In the days following her father's heart attack, Laurie had found herself doing some serious soul-searching. The very idea would've made her brother's friends laugh - since when did she have a soul to search? It surprised her sometimes, too, but given the circumstances, it was no surprise. She was scared. She'd basically given her dad a heart attack. Because she married Fez.
Fez had been about to be deported because his visa would expire once he graduated high school and the exchange program ended. She hadn't really taken an interest in the situation until the camping trip and they had sex in the van. It hadn't been bad. Better than a lot of the losers she'd done it with, but not talented either. He'd confided in her that he'd only lost his virginity only a month ago to a coworker at the DMV, so he had inexperience as an excuse, but it hadn't really been all that interesting. Still, they'd wound up talking through the night, and so she offered the idea of a quickie marriage in town. He'd been dubious at first, but then they had sex a second time, and it seemed more appealing to him.
She'd genuinely been trying to help him. And the shock gave Red a heart attack.
Soon, an entire week had gone by, and she was still miserable. She had stayed at home in her old room. Thankfully, Fez had given her space. For being an absolute perv, he was still a decent guy. She hid herself from the others for most of that time, only coming down for dinner. Red was doing well. He just had to stay for observation. If anyone was angry at her, it faded very quickly. Eric had a few snide comments about how she'd almost killed their dad, but she didn't have the energy to respond to them, so he must've figured she was feeling guilty and let it go.
She barely ate during that week, so one night, when everyone had gone to sleep, she scrounged together whatever money she had hidden around the house - and some Eric had hidden around the house - and went out. She was starving, but she wasn't really up for leftovers. She strolled around Point Place - which was pretty lowkey as far as crime was concerned - and approached the nearest Fatso Burger. It was still an hour before they closed, so she went in and ordered a double bacon cheeseburger with fries and a large milkshake. She flashed her bra at the cashier, ensuring her usual discount, and took everything to an outside table and ate away, enjoying the summer air.
As she ate, she thought about what was happening around her. Eric and Donna were going away to college soon, Hyde and Kelso were still fighting over Jackie, and she was married to Fez. Good god, she was pathetic. The thought just made her cram more food into her mouth. The grease tasted so good right now. The minutes passed, and soon, she had finished everything. She took a few last sips of milkshake, getting as much as she could. She needed to get as much as she could so as to fill the gaping hole in her soul right now.
Throwing her trash away and returning the tray, she still felt empty and depressed, so she went to a twenty-four-hour grocery store with the money she had left and got a pint of cookie dough ice cream. Another slip of the bra ensured she got it half off, and she made her way home, getting a spoon out of the drawer and taking it back to her room. She sighed tiredly as she practically inhaled the thing before lying down to get some sleep. She patted her stomach, appreciative of the fullness settling inside it.
