"Isabelle, I really don't believe you should come with me," Daniel insisted. Isabelle merely crossed her arms across her chest, her mind made up. "I suppose I won't be able to change your mind will I? Okay, but we have to leave tonight."
"Ok, just let me go get some things." She turned around to go but inside, but Daniel grabbed her arm to stop her.
"No, we don't have time, besides, someone might see you. I've already grabbed some things and some money, anything else we may need we can pick up on the way." With that and one last look at the castle, the two walked off arm in arm.
~*~*~*~the next morning at the castle~*~*~*~
"Someone please help me!" a disheveled woman on the verge of tears screamed as she ran through the doors of the castle. "Please, my husband is dead and my son is missing. Please, help."
"Madam please, calm yourself," a passing nobleman tried to calm her. Just then her Majesty the Queen was passing by and recognized the hysterical woman.
"Melinda? Is that you? Whats wrong?" she asked as she went to comfort the woman now openly weeping.
"Oh your Majesty. Howard's dead. I was in town with my daughters all of yesterday and we only returned early this morning. The scene was horrifying. He's been killed, and Daniel is missing. He must have found his father and gone off somewhere. Please, he and your daughter are friends, does she know where he has gone? Please, I am out of my mind with worry," she cried hysterically.
"It's alright Melinda. We will get all this sorted out." Then to her servant, "Run and fetch my daughter immediately. Have her meet me in my chambers." Wrapping her arm around Melinda's shoulders leading her away she said, "Isabelle will tell us if she has any information about your son's whereabouts."
"Thank you, thank you so very much your Majesty." When they reached the Queen's chambers they found a servant staring down at the floor but no Isabelle.
"Where is my daughter?"
"I'm so sorry your Majesty, but I could not find her," she replied, refusing to look the Queen in the eyes. "I looked, and I asked the other servants, but she is not in any of her usual places, or any unusual." With that she bowed and backed out of the room leaving the Queen and Daniel's mother in shock and wonder.
~*~*~*~with Daniel and Isabelle~*~*~*~
Still walking along a road with trees on either side arm in arm with Isabelle resting her head on Daniel's shoulder, Isabelle breaks the silence and asks the obvious question, "Daniel?"
"Yes?"
"Where are we going to go?" He thought for a moment but did not respond. "Daniel?"
"Honestly Isabelle, I have no clue."
"Well, I don't really mind where we go. I enjoy looking at all this beautiful scenery, but would you mind if we stop somewhere soon. We left in the middle of the night and haven't stopped walking since, and I'm getting awfully tired."
