Chapter #5

Old Friends

    by: sad_lover_poet
"We will stay in the home of my fathers." I say after a long moment of silence.

"WELL I HAVE TO ADMITT, EVEN THOUGH I DO NOT EAT OR SLEEP I AM RATHER READY FOR A BIT OF REST." Death replies.

"If we must." Shadow says darkly.

"You mean we're staying in an elven city? Yes! I'll buy everyone a round at the bar!" Micheal says, jumping down from his horse.

"They don't have bars here but they have ale avaliable if that's what you wish to have. We elves don't often drink the liquid but we keep it for when we have guests. We prefer Dreamberry wine." I say, my eyes shining, I would see my father and beloved Darian again.

"DON'T GET TOO HASTY, DON'T TELL THEM ABOUT OUR QUEST!" Death warns us all, "AND YOU, MICHEAL, DON'T GET TOO DRUNK AND TELL THEM!"

"Now I have never gotton so drunk I've let my tounge slip, well except for that one time, but that was a completely different, oh fine I won't get that drunk." Micheal says.

He is a fine young man, and good to have on our side when he isn't too busy searching for ale. Now Shadow on the other hand, well he worries me, Shadow seems like one of the warlocks who want complete world domination, if you get what I'm saying. Death is somewhat an enjoyable fellow, and he isn't a bad person to have on your side either.

We walk down into the valley, where my father and Darian great us with joy. Darian and I run off together, joyous to see each other once more.

Darian pulls me off to his quarters, "So what is this quest you're on?"

"In all honesty I have no notion, they came to the town of my mother's and asked for the best warrior elf there and they choose me. That is all I know, but enough of that. What have you been up to? How have you been?"

"None of that matters now that your here." He says, wrapping his arms around me and kissing me ever so softly, "Love, I missed you so, please promise me you'll come back here after your quest, please?"

"Of course." I say in a hushed voice and we fall asleep in each other's arms, completely clothed, and rest peacefully.

The sun has barely rosen and I feel a mental prod, "COME NOW, YOU'VE HAD YOUR NIGHT, IT IS TIME TO LEAVE, AND MAKE SURE TO SAY FARWELL TO YOUR FATHER AS WELL AS DARIAN." Death whispers in my mind.

I sigh and rouse Darian, "Love, I must leave now." I whisper. I kiss his lips lightly and then I walk to my father's quarters, "Father?" I call into the room.

"Ah, Sharla, I was afraid you would not come and see me before you left once more."

"I always do father. I love you, I will miss you, goodbye." I say hugging him.

"Love you sweetheart. Have a good journey."

I meet Shadow, a hung-over Micheal, and Death in the town square, "Are you ready at last, then?" asks Shadow coldly. At my nod, we walk off into the growing light of morning.

We soon come to a fork in the road.

"Left or Right?" Micheal, whose hang-over was gone now, asks. Which way should we go?

You have the following choices:
