Chapter #4

To the docks!

by: DragonWrites~The Fire Faerie~ Author IconMail Icon
Your feet turn and lead you in the direction of the docks before you can even determine if you long for ale or not.

You watch the sailors working against the deep blue of the sea. You envy them slightly until you remember all the times you spent in the dank darkness of a ships bowels.

The captain of the ship had offered you friendship. Naive and anxious to rid yourself of lonliness, you accepted. In truth, he was a slave trader and believed you to bring a great price across the sea.

Their surprise and dismay was evident when they ventured below at journey's end and found all the other 'cargo' dead. You killed the captain slowly, disembarking into a strange land with stranger customs.

As you watch the ships, you dream of a simpler life, and of the woman you loved so tenderly the night before you died. She had sworn to love you forever. How little she realized. Forever is a long time...when you're damned. You turn and find a man glaring at you coldly.

"What?" You ask as you look over his shoulder at the sign hanging over the tavern's door. Yes, you decide, ale is definately what you want.

"You killed my brother." The man says, his voice harsh and emotionless.

"And your sister more than likely." You say.

"I don't have a sister." He growls.

"Then consider yourself blessed, for, if you had a sister, she too would have fallen prey to me." You say as you reach up to bring the man's broad neck into your reach.

"Damn you to Hell, devil!" He cries out and you feel a sharp pain in your heart. You look down and see the wooden stake protruding from your chest. "Die for your sins and burn eternal!"

You feel your legs crumbling beneath you, turning slowly to dust. If only you had seen this coming, you think to yourself. If only you had gone to the tavern instead.

THE END.
