Chapter #4

Trying to get Eric off the platform, Zac shrink...

Eric felt a hard punch. He flew straight through the laboratory and smacked against the metal wastebasket.
"Ouuchh.....!"
Eric's body was too benumbed to say anything. The noise came up from the large platform.
"Ouchh... "
"ZAC are you okay...?" , coughed Eric.
Eric limped to the cabin where Zac should be. He climbed up the border of the platform.
His brother lies whining between some of the lens splinters holding his face. Some blood runs between his fingers.
"ZAC..!"
"YOU .. You told me it doesn't hurt!"
He had a small cut right over his left eye.
"You are such an idiot. You turned it the wrong way!"
...
"Couldn't you do anything right?"
"Don’t look at me like that."
He helped Zac up and gave him a tissue.
Zac looked around.
"Wow... everything is so huge."
"We have to get back to our normal size. Let’s try to reach the control panel.
And this time I’m turning the dial... understand!?"
Zac nods while pushing the tissue on his wound.
Eric looks up to the machine. The metal at the peak was glowing red.
"Zac I know why the lens was bursting the first time." he shouted out.
"When the machine runs in too short periods the glass of the lens overheats and ...."
"Yeahh... shut up and fix this damn thing up there."
"No. You don’t understand. We have to wait an hour or two to let it cool down before we start the next try."
"Why didn’t you tell me that the fix was hot?"
"I used the security gloves ... reminding? You told me that."
"Man... you are hopeless. Let’s find a way to get on the top of the panel."
"No...!!!"
"What!?"
Over Zac’s face went a catty smile.
"No! I don’t want to be big again."
"I could gain fame as the world’s smallest Hollywood star. I’ll be rich and..."
"You stoned bastard!" yelled Eric.
It sounds a bit ridiculous with his high mickey mouse likely voice.
"Shut up! The first time in my life I will be the great and succeed part of our family!"
Zac shouted back. His voice didn’t sound much different.
Just at that moment Eric’s student Scott arrived.
Both froze and stared at the door.
"Hello... mister Brevard. Is anybody there?"
"Who’s that?" Zac whispered.
"He’s my… Oh no he WAS one of my students. He failed the class. But he could..."
Right at that moment Scott stepped in the room and start to nose around in his documents.
He even rummaged his cabinets.
Then he spotted the two brothers on the floor of the platform.
He took his bag and...
