Chapter #4
The Prize
by: accujimmy
Off in the distance you see your favorite toy skateboard, and beside that is a toy bicycle too. What fun that would be you think, a skateboard would be great in here, and the bike you could use to ride around the house, if you could figure a way to get out of the room.
But between you and your prize is a veritable minefield of obstacles - marbles, rocks, blocks, silly puddy, even a spilled glass of water that had formed a lake in an overturned frisbee. So you start out, quickly at first, but then slower as toy after toy slows your progress. After a few minutes your bed is like a mile away, your getting tired, and the sun beating in through the window is baking the floorboards to over a hundred degrees or something. You decide to take shelter as you feel the bottoms of your sneakers getting sticky as they begin to melt. A couple feet away you see your school backpack and you hightail it over there. You'll wait for the sun to duck behind a cloud, and then you'll move again. That bike is only a short way away now it seems.
