Amidst all the heroes and villains flying around in their capes and silly costumes, there's hundreds upon hundreds of everyday folks, regular people going about their lives the same as you or me. And in this world of heroes, there are some that could do with a little time in the spotlight!
Rosie Barnes
Age: 24
Height/Weight: 5'6" / 120 lbs
Job: Photojournalist
A fresh face in the Evening Sentinel writing room, Rosie Barnes was a promising if overeager journalist, craving adventure and willing to take on dangerous and exciting stories. Her dorky demeanor and clumsiness hid a sharp mind, a genuine compassion for the job, and a remarkable ability to make friends. Especially with the heroes she encountered on her assignments.
Be it rescuing Mr. Magma from Frostpunk's deadly freezing trap or sabotaging a glue cannon to save Sugar Rush from a sticky end, Rosie Barnes became well known as "every superhero's best friend", especially her hometown's premiere heroine Gravity Gal. Despite that newfound popularity among civilians and superheroes alike, she continues to pursue every story and follow every lead, the same dorky but sharp reporter she's always been.
Even if hanging out with all those superheroes has made her life a whole lot weirder...
Tom Fletcher
Age: 35
Height/Weight: 6'0" / 180 lbs
Job: Detective
Fletcher grew up on the mean streets of Darkport, confident that one day he'd do his part to help clean up this city. With a criminology degree and a Purple Heart in his study, he joined up with the much maligned Darkport PD and rose to the rank of detective, earning a reputation as a troublemaker and a nuisance to the worst kind of scum in the city. Maybe it was that reputation that made him a favorite of all those capes running around.
Well, he wasn't crazy about it. Running around in those masks, beating up every shady lookin' figure they came across without anyone to stop them. Sure, crazy broads like Mist were necessary to keep the streets clean and do something about all these corrupt bastards running around, but that didn't mean he had to like it. He'd work with them, sure, but one step out of line and he'd come down on them hard.
If he could keep track of them all, of course. Hell, rumor is there's a new cape running around Darkport. Great, that's the last thing he needs to worry about, especially when his sister is moving back to town.
Ashley Armstrong
Age: 36
Height/Weight: 5'11" / 160 lbs
Job: Doctor/Biochemist
No one every said being a hero was safe. Even for those lucky enough to have bulletproof skin or a healing factor, fighting the good fight can leave you in a rough spot, especially when some dastardly villain whacks you with your greatest weakness or you reach you limit and nearly bleed out on the pavement.
Never fear, Dr. Armstrong is here to help.
A brilliant scientist with far too many credentials to list here, Armstrong quit a cushy government to open her own private laboratory specializing in helping heroes recover from their injuries and researching new methods to keep them healthy and safe. Quietly confident and empathic to a fault, she enjoys a reputation as one of the most trusted people in the world, so much so that even the villains have an unspoken rule that she is not to be harmed, after she risked life and limb to save a supervillain's life.
It's never an easy job, but it is a good and necessary job. And given all the colorful characters that pass through her door, it certainly isn't a boring one.
Cody McCarthy
Age: 26
Height/Weight: 5'10" / 174 lbs
Job: Software Developer
Things are looking up for Cody McCarthy lately. He has a new job he doesn't hate, the pay is much better, and he's been able to move to a nicer apartment downtown where he can poke down to the cafe for lunch and catch up on his comic books. And best of all, he has a new girlfriend!
He can hardly believe it himself. Cody hadn't gone on a date since that disastrous night at senior prom and wasn't even looking for a relationship until she stepped into his life. It was astonishing how well they hit it off, and before he knew it they were spending nights at that little cafe kissing and holding hands! It was amazing, being head over heels in love like this, and knowing she felt the exact same way!
Sure it'll be weird, being a big famous superhero's boyfriend, but he was sure it wouldn't be too hard to handle that.
