You pause mid stride when the bush at the corner of your campus fence jostles suddenly. Immediately your fight-or-flight kicks in, as it should for anyone who's made it to adulthood, and you prepare to bolt.
The leaves shudder and rattle once more as a black something jumps free!

A little short-haired black cat growls and hisses in vain trying to slip from some kind of string that's been strewn all across the branchy interior. It's surprisingly well groomed for a stray.
Stranger still it hasn't just willed itself free like you'd known other trapped animals to in the past. Maybe it already used up its latest wish?
Hesitating a moment you decide to help the poor thing out.
It takes some tugging and unwinding and a lot of disentangling, but finally the little ball of fur is free curled up in your arms, purring appreciatively.
"Eheh, guess the cat distribution system strikes again."

"Talkative lil thing huh? Well, wanna come home with me?"
