The first call was indistinguishable, so Donna stepped back from the register, turned up the volume and leaned her head closer to hear better. “This is Officer Wrigley. Please repeat that, dispatch?”
The next call came in clear but less than unintelligible. “Goo ga geegee bwawabuh~” the signal cut in and out, as if the person on the other line were pressing the talk button at random
“Wha- who is this?” Donna demanded as soon as she could get a word in edgewise “Bill? Percy, is this some kind of prank?”
But the babbling didn’t respond to the accusations. It simply grew more excited to find another voice to coo at. “AaaAAah, gege bub-buh~!!”
Eyes were turned to the confused motorcop as she tried talking sense into a voice that seemed like a kid on the other end playing with equipment on the other end but didn’t quite sound right as an actual baby. As they watched…
