You took a deep breath to calm yourself before stepping out of your car and walking into the school. It was your first day as a fully certified teacher, and you were nervous. Teaching had always been a dream of yours, but to finally achieve it was strangely surreal. You straightened your tie and checked your collar as you strode through the doors.
You walked toward the administrative office. You had been a last-minute hire, meaning the principal and most of the staff had yet to actually meet you in person, though you had shown up to set up your classroom the day before. Thus Principal Seabert wanted to greet you formally for your first day.
As you walked through the halls, you noticed the students were giving you strange looks. The girls seemed to be eyeing you with smiles and giggles, and the guys with more confusion. Was it that obvious you were a new teacher? You just hoped you didn't look like a student, since your youthful face had caused you problems before, despite being in your mid-twenties.
An older teacher walked by, and you nodded a greeting, though you didn't know her name. She sniffed upon seeing you.
"Finally getting your act together, Cal? Or is this another one of your jokes?" She said, raising an eyebrow.
Cal? Who was Cal? You didn't have time to ask as the teacher immediately stalked off, and you shook it off. She must need glasses or something and mistook you for someone else. You just hoped it didn't happen again. You needed your first day to go smoothly, and for your authority as a teacher to solidify, seeing as your youth and inexperience could cause problems with respect from students and other teachers.
