"You should come over," Samantha smiled as she ran a hand through her hair. It wasn't a suggestion.
"Right now?" Matthew looked into her green eyes confused by the invitation. "Why?"
"Because I said so," Samantha offered before turning away and walking back to the decrepit house.
Matthew watched her disappear behind the dead bushes. He figured he'd take her up on her offer so he went through the side gate and walked to the rusted iron fence of her front yard. He didn't know what came over him as this place chilled him to the core but he stepped onto the cracked footpath anyway.
He walked down the untended garden where the garden gnomes stared at him with horror. The frogs croaked their warnings as he went past the retched pond. The wooded steps going up to the porch screamed as he stepped on them.
When he finally made it to the frond door he saw a novelty door handle shaped like a person in pain as their arms and legs were pulled back touching the door. "Run..." he heard them cry softly. That's when Matthew regretted his decision.
"Oh good, you're hear..." Samantha greeted him amused as she opened the door...
