The floorboard on the stairs creaked announcing Tim's descent. With a groan, Walter straighten up from his work bench. Knuckling his spine as it straightened after being bent over for so long.
He raised the magnifiers to see his son.
"I've made progress." he announced, pride in his voice. Tim came forward eager to see what his father had been working on. Well, he knew what it was, but this was the first time he'd actually seen the device.
"It's still a prototype." he warned, cautioning Tim's expectations. Walter's hands hovering over the 'Transformatron'. proudly gesturing to the disassembled device, and simultaneously stopping his son from picking up any particular piece.
"I'm confident it's ready for human trials." he gestured to the selection of happy lab animals he'd used in his experiments.
"It can store multiple profiles, and switch between them." he spoke confidently. "But, for the first experiment, I'll stick to just a transformation, and restoration."
"This deserves a celebration." Tim was almost bouncing with excitement.
"Coffee, milk, two sugar." Walter answered. His genius not extending to social situations, he returned his attention back to the work bench, and started reassembling the 'Transformatron'.
The stair creaked again, as Tim headed back upstairs to the kitchen, avid to see the experiment. Walter talked, as if Tim were still there... at the same time not expecting a response.
