This choice: Have Jenny and Joy become companions • Go Back... Ash really wanted to get to Professor Oak's Lab, but he was also curious about what the flute had done and the extent of its control. "If you don't mind me asking, would it be possible for you two to join me on my journey?"
Jenny was the first to answer, "Well, today's the last day of my police training. I was going to take what I learnt and hunt down criminals, but there's no reason I can't join you instead." She was smiling with a slight blush at that last bit.
Ash turned to Joy who gave a similar answer. "I'm done with my nurse training today as well. I didn't know what I wanted, so I was going to join my sister in becoming a nurse. But if I go with you, I can find my own way. You sure you don't mind?"
Ash shook him head. "Seriously, it's OK. I asked, after all." Ash put the flute in his bag, "I'm going to stay at the Inn an the edge of town, how about you two meet me there tomorrow morning?" Joy and Jenny agreed to that and Ash left.
After signing himself out, he took his bearings and made his way to Oak's Lab. He really hoped there was a pokémon left, he'd take any of the three at this point, but he doubted it.
It took him about 20 minutes to get there. When he walked in, he noticed there was hardly anyone around, the ceremony was well and truly over. He walked up to the front desk and rang the bell, the desk lady didn't take very long.
It was Jasmine, she and Ash always had fun when he came to visit Oak. If Oak was like his dad, Jasmine was the fun aunt. She smiled at Ash for a second before looking shocked, "Oh Arceus, what happened to you?"
Ash wasn't sure what she meant, so he looked at the wall mirror and saw his eye was bruised. He must have been kicked there when the thugs ran off. "Oh, that. I was mugged for my pokémon. But it's alright, Nurse Joy told me I'll be fine."
She gave a relived sigh, "Do you want to visit Sam?"
He always found it weird, hearing Professor Oak's first name. "If you don't mind." He then walked off, already knowing where to find him.
He took the lift to top floor, where Oak's real lab was, the other one being for guests.
When he stepped off, he was met with a rather energetic man, about 4 inches taller and 3 years older. He had short brown hair and a green shirt. "Ah! What are you doing here?! You have to go, the Professor doesn't like people up here!"
Ash was confused, who was this guy? "Yea, I know. Who are you and what are you doing here?"
He didn't seem angry, more worried, "If you must know, my name's Tracey and I started working for the Professor last week, and I really can't have a bad mark on my record so soon. So I'm begging, please leave."
Ash had a an idea. He knew he shouldn't but he couldn't resist. "Professor! Tracey let someone into your lab!" Tracey was freaking out now.
Oak came storming around the corner with disapproval on his face, looking around for this stranger. He walked up to Tracey, "Alright, Mr. Sketchit, where is this person?" Tracey look at Ash, defeated. Oak look between the two confused, before realization struck. "Oh, that's right. You two never met. Tracey, this is Ash Ketchum. He is dear friend of mine."
Tracey looked confused, then realifed, then a little annoyed. "That wasn't very nice."
Ash chuckled a bit, "Sorry, I couldn't help it. Nice to meet you." Tracey took Ash's hand with a smile. Ash then looked at Oak who only just noticed the bruise. "I was mugged for my pokémon, Nurse Joy said I'll be fine." Ash then started looking upset, afraid of the answer, "Speaking of pokémon, you wouldn't happen to have any more, would you?"
Oak gave a warm smile. "Actually, I do happen to have one more left." Ash couldn't believe his luck, he was actually going to get a pokémon after all. "Tracey, why don't you get back to work while I show Ash his new partner?" Tracey did just that and Ash was led deeper into the lab.
"I hope you won't hold it against me," Oak said, "but I had a feeling you wouldn't make it. So I kept one of the pokémon back just for you."
Ash would have felt insulted, if it wasn't true he had a tendency to be late. Besides, he couldn't complain when he was getting a pokémon. Oak picked up a pokéball and gave it to Ash. Ash was exited and summoned the pokémon to find his new partner was ______. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
