What would be different if Lumine was shrunk?
Chapter #1

To begin an adventure

It was a bright, clear day over the beach, the sound of gentle waves slipping up and down the shore barely audible in the background. In the foreground, however, things were not quite as peaceful. Inland of the sands of the Monstadt coast sat a blue, amorphous blob, of little sentience and what appeared to be no intelligence, or so it's blank, rounded eyes conveyed. The strange creature, seemingly made of living water, hopped to and fro. To a distant observer the entity would seem to be playfully hopping about like a cat frolicking through a field of flowers, but a closer look would reveal it was locked in combat with yet another peculiar creature.
This being seemed human at a glance, though notably... Smaller. Standing at roughly two inches tall was what appeared to be a young, golden-maned woman. This living doll was adorned with a white, sleeveless dress, tied around her neck to hold it up, a baggy pair of white shorts seen adorning her legs, which stretched down into thigh-high boots, supported by height boosting heels, though at two inches tall, any height increasing affect was lost. Draped over each of her arms are white sleeves, stretched from her middle finger to her shoulders, and clasped in her right hand was a simple sword, which appeared almost naturally made for her small body to wield. As the slime hopped before her, she readied her stance and prepared to strike.
Quickly, at a rate almost imperceptible to an untrained eye, the figure dashed forward, swinging her sword at an incredibly unexpected speed. Upon contact with the membrane of the slime's body, the surface tension of the creature's surface cleaved apart across the area of impact, the force great enough to send the water composed form flying into the air. As the slime spiralled, the diminutive maiden dashed directly under the location the being was going to land at, and raised her hand. From her palm came a suction, a powerful vacuum which caused air to swirl into an orb-like shape before her.
Upon landing on the air vacuum, the slime's body immediately reacted. The watery body immediately compressed, and then dispersed as the enlarged air vortex swirled with water. The young woman smirked, and then forced the elemental energy into the air above her, blasting the winds and water into the sky. As the energy of the reaction diminished, the dispersed droplets rained back to the ground, the little lady basking in the cooling rain she had made, not that the day was particularly hot.
As the reduced individual basked in her victory, yet another small figure, though not as small the fighter, approached her. Floating in the air was someone most easily described as being fairly childish in appearance, with white locks framing a rounded, cherubic face, and bright eyes, seemingly composed of galaxies. Atop her head floated a pinkish halo, and over her body was a baggy, white jumpsuit, with pink trimming at the end of her long sleeves and at the bottoms of her one piece outfit, where her legs met her body. Covering said legs where boots, stretching to her mid-thigh, much like the girl she approached. The fae like creature bore a wide smile on her face as she approached her companion.
"Lumine, you were amazing, good job!" the fairy cheered, doing a little side-to-side shimmy as she beamed down at her friend.
"Of course, with all the training I've been putting in, I'd sincerely hope I'd have done well. Though of course, it wouldn't have been so easy without your help, Paimon," the words of praise immediately causing Paimon to swell with pride.
Indeed, Paimon had proven to be a most useful companion to the minimized human. They had been living together on this beach for roughly six months, since Lumine had spotted the poor girl floating in the water in a daze. In a show of pity, Lumine had swam out and used her surprising strength to pull Paimon to a shore. All of this occurring right after Lumine had awakened from her dramatic battle. Lumine recalled being bigger than she was now, and she had been a traveler, flying freely from world to world alongside her twin brother, until some unknown god appeared and separated the siblings, Aether being captured and Lumine being sent to thia location, apparently. Her memory was rather hazy on other details surrounding the event, but she did know she needed to find her brother. Thankfully, Paimon had proven quite useful in preparing for her journey to find her brother.
Apparently, the floating girl seems to be in possession of an immense repository of knowledge regarding the world and it's mechanics. After taking the traveler to the nearby anemo statue to explain the Archons to her, Lumine recieved the ability to manipulate wind from said statue, and Paimon provided valuable input to her so as to help her utilise the anemo power in a fashion that worked best for her. Now, the traveler could generate the Palm Vortex, which she could generate to pull things to her or away from her, and she could even use it to launch herself through the air. She could also generate a small tornado, capable of ensnaring multiple targets at once. She could manifest these abilities to her size and use them both repeatedly with no cool down, or she could make them larger, and more reminiscent of human height, but at the cost of needing time to recover from the energy loss required to pull those moves at the larger size.
Aside from assisting Lumine in developing these techniques, Paimon had led Lumine to her first treasure chest, leading to her possession of her sword, as well as the discoveries that Lumine maintained her old ability to store objects in a pocket dimension, and that she could now manifest these objects at both her own size and at full size. The duo also discovered Lumine's heightened imperviousness which seemed to border on being full-on indestructible or immortal, as they tested her durability via combat and exposure to dangerous situations, compiling a list of the various dangers they discovered she could survive. Along with these tests, they also discovered her immense physical strength, as she could easily lift a a fallen tree with the proper footing, and her strikes seemed to do tremendous damage to things she hit. One of the few drawbacks to her condition seemed to be her voice, or to be specific, her lack of vocal projection. Paimon needed to be within three feet to hear Lumine speak, though this extended to five feet when she yelled. All of this led to Paimon agreeing to be her guide, to carrying Lumine as she wasn't too heavy anyway, and being her interpreter to others, all as thanks for saving Paimon, and agreeing to provide for Paimon's basic needs.
And so the duo had lived for six months, with Lumine training herself in combat on the hydro slime's that spawned on the beach and the occasional hilichurl that wandered into the area. She would also dive into the ocean, taking advantage on her apparent lack of need for air to wrestle fish to shore so she could cook them and the occasional squirrel into meals for her and Paimon. Now that she had progressed to a suitable point in her self-taught combat training, the two had agreed it was time to begin the search for her brother, and had decided that today would be the day to go, after Lumine defeated the daily slimes so Paimon would have condensate for her odd slime dishes she had begun experimenting with, much to Lumine's chagrin.
After joyously scooping up the condensate left behind from the slime Lumine had slain, Paimon happily hovered low to the ground, palm extended for Lumine to board. Thanks to Lumine's adventurous spirit and Paimon's innocent, loving nature, Lumine has never once hesitated in letting Paimon handle her, as the floating child happened to provide an excellent mode of transport, floating them both around and helping Lumine conserve energy. Once aboard, Paimon brought her hand close to her chest and placed her other palm beneath her hand, to guarantee more stability for Lumine, not that falling would even make her feel pain.
Looking down upon her, the cherubic being giggled, and asked, "Are you ready to go, Traveler?"
Nodding, Lumine responded, "I'm more than ready, I can't wait to find Aether!" A confident smile stretched across her face.
"Then let's go! Onward, to adventure!" And with that, the two began their journey, travelling towards Starfell Lake in pursuit of Lumine's missing family.
