Seeing Mari head out of the house, car keys in hand, was enough to clue you in to who it was that you were going to spend the day with.
It was Jenna, and you recalled this because she herself had told you she was going to pick you up in her car. In fact, she'd probably be at the door any minute, and here you were fumbling around trying to remember who you were hanging out with. As it stood, you still didn't even remember exactly what it was that Jenna wanted to do with you today, and you were struck by just how bad your memory tended to be in the early morning hours. It was a trait you shared with your wife and daughters, you supposed, although your memory improved immensely after a bit of wake-up time compared to them.
As if on cue, the doorbell rang, and you approached the bottom of the door to hit the tiny-sized switch that would trigger the latch to unlock. After doing so, the towering form of your younger sister appeared, and her dark brown eyes alighted upon you immediately. Smiling softly, she brushed some of her dirty-blonde hair out of her face and knelt down before you, the neat and trim miniskirt she was wearing barely allowing her to crouch that deeply. Her fitted blouse matched her skirt, and she looked set to take on the corporate world, blessed with near eternal youthful beauty.
Your sister was amazing, and not just in terms of her preternatural ability to still look like a gorgeous twenty-year-old all the way into her forties. She'd dedicated so many years of her life to righting the wrongs of her past with the FTTF, and the incredible work her foundation had done for millions of affected all across the world was the stuff of legends. It still struck you, sometimes, to see your sister as she was now compared to the malicious, cruelly inventive tormentor she'd been for your childhood. It was an amazing reversal, and it made you so proud to call her your sister.
"Hey, Matt." Jenna said by way of greeting, extending her palm for you to climb on.
"Morning, Jenna. You look awesome today! What's the occasion?" You asked the question simply, then paled. You'd just given away that you'd totally forgotten what your plan was with her for today.
Jenna's answering smile was coy, the mischievous girl inside her personality never wholly gone. "You forgot, huh? Geez, bro, I think Mari might be rubbing off on you a bit."
You jokingly punched your sister's thumb as you climbed onto her palm. "Har har. I'm just a bit out of it this morning, alright? Leave me gorgeous perfect wife out of this!"
Jenna laughed lightly as she stood back up and cupped her fingers protectively around you. Shen then stepped outside, closed the door behind herself, and carried you out to her car. Once there, she deposited you gently into the Tiny-Rides car seat (a Small Wonders invention that strapped around unaffected-sized car seats and provided comfort and safety for affected passengers). She then slid into the driver's seat, but before turning the engine on, glanced over at you.
"You...seriously don't remember why I wanted your help today?" Your sister asked, with slight hesitation. You dropped whatever joke you'd been about to throw out and sat up straighter. She was serious.
"I did, yeah. Sorry. I promise, though, that I'll help with whatever you need from me." You solemnly swore.
Your sister nodded appreciatively. "Thanks, Matt. Well, it's about..."
1) "...the Just Jacobs factory. I've heard about reports of some of our customers finding real tinies instead of Tinex in the products that ship from there. Someone who works there must be sabotaging us, and I want you to help me find out who."
2) "...how I've been strong-armed into a meeting with some of the local CTC higher-ups. It's supposedly 'just a friendly chat', but I don't feel good about what their game plan might be. I was kinda hoping you could be my emotional support."
3) "...a snag we've run into trying to set up international Fair Tiny Treatment Foundation offices. Some countries have worked out, but we're being pretty heavily blocked in France. The CTC still has a hold there, apparently, and they've just sent over their representative to have a lunch meeting with me. And it's...god, it's Felicity."
4) "...Piper and Aiden forcing me to take a day off. They say I work too much, which isn't wrong I guess, but it's been so long since I just took a day for me that I kinda feel like I've forgotten how to do that? Can you think of things we could do together, just like old times? O-Or not just like old times, sorry."
