Chapter #9

Not according to plan

As soon as Jenn uttered the phrase, both Josh and Kira looked at each other seeing if anything had changed. Looking over at Kira, who was still living in his life, Josh quickly turned over to his girlfriend. "Why didn't anything happen?" He asked while looking around the room to see that everything still seemed to be the same except that everything was very slowly getting bigger. It wasn't very apparent at first, but after about 30 seconds to a minute, he could definitely see the difference. "Umm... Jenny." He asked with a small tremble in his voice. "Why am I shrinking?"

Looking over at Jenn, he could see her eyes wide as saucers as she picked up the book once more and feverishly started to go through it to find the answer. "I... I don't know." She stammered after looking through the book for a minute or two. "I thought I reversed the swap, but I don't know anymore. This whole book is in English, but the spells are in another language and might as well be in Latin." She groaned as she put the book down for a moment and looked back over at her boyfriend. He was still dressed in her sister's clothes and had her hair, but he seemed to be a couple inches shorter than her. Thinking of one of her favorite books series, Jenn raised her hand over to Josh and said with an authoritative voice, "Finite!"

Nothing seemed to have happened, no cold icy winds or bright lights indicated that the spell had stopped, since Josh was still shrinking at a rate of an inch a minute and was around 4 feet tall when it stopped. Not wanting to look a gift horse in the mouth, none of them wanted to say anything just in case it started back up again. But after about 5 minutes of waiting with each of them seemingly holding their breathes during the wait. "Jenny, I think it stopped." Josh said with a smile on his face. Both Kira and Jenn looked over at him and couldn't help but smile at they way he looked. "What?"

Looking down at his body, he couldn't help but groan. Still wearing Kira's clothes, but instead of fitting him perfectly, he now looked like he was drowning in them. "You look like you're dressing up in your older sister's clothes." Kira exclaimed as she looked down at her own body to be sure that she wasn't changing.

Within a few seconds a bright flash illuminated the room causing all three of them to gasp in surprise. When they were able to see once again, Jenn looked around and noticed something was out of place. "Josh, your clothes." She gasped.

Looking down at her clothes, Kira didn't see anything different, but when she glanced over at Josh, she noticed that he was now wearing a light purple shirt with her old girl scout troop number, a pair of jeans with a unicorn on the back pocket and even the socks that were off white in color and had pink stitching on the toes. "That something that I had when I was in Girl Scouts." She announced.

"Wait, weren't you in Girl Scouts in the 3rd and 4th grade?" Jenn asked, trying to get a hold of the situation. And let out a sigh when Kira nodded her head. "Great."

While they were trying to figure everything out, Lynn Marshall started to walk up the stairs to get the day over with. "Kira, honey. 15 minute warning!" She called out to the seemingly empty room with a lone light on in her eldest daughter's room. "We need to get going so we're not late. You want to have some time to play with your friends Chloe and Lilly, right?"

Josh, Jenn, and Kira looked at each other with a look of urgency. "Jenn sweetie, I don't think we can fix this in the next 15 minutes." Taking a moment to realize what she said, Kira brought her hands up to her mouth. "Great, now I'm doing it."

"I think you will need to play along for right now and we will see what I can do while your at the meeting." Jenn relented looking down in disappointment.

Josh let out a drawn out sigh as he started to go towards the door. "Jenny, you owe me."
