Chapter #4

Innocent but Unemployed

The trial was not going well. After Stan reformed, he only narrowly avoided being crushed under his lawyer's breasts again as she rested on the table. Paris Dunn proved to be absolutely no help at all. Whenever evidence was presented against Stan, it was up to him to argue his own defense. Stan knew by having himself as a lawyer he had a fool for a client, but if he left everything up to his apathetic public defender, he knew she'd have an even bigger fool for a client than he did. He argued against the logistics of how someone of his stature could remove money and security tapes from lockup without help, but the judge seemed to be in agreement with the prosecutor that if Stan was expected to be capable of performing the duties of a regular-sized cop at his size, he was also capable of performing the crimes of a regular-sized crook. When they showed video evidence of a tiny accepting bribes, Stan had to point out that the video was too grainy to make out the tiny's face and that the tiny's police uniform didn't match Stan's own. He pointed out lots of costumes had been made for tinies, and though the judge looked skeptical, there were a few murmurs from the jury.

Near the end, a woman was brought on the witness stand to testify against him. She was a pudgy woman with black-hair pulled back into a ponytail, tattoos all along her arms, a slight double-chin and enormous breasts. Stan had never seen her before in his life but apparently she was arrested for breaking into cars and stealing their radios and anything else of value inside. She'd tried the same thing with a police car and had gotten caught, but she said it wasn't the first time she'd been caught by an officer. The first time she said she'd been caught by Stan but had been allowed to go free with the radio if she paid him a thousand dollars. This would've been damning for Stan, except the police records listed the date of the robbery and Stan had a rock solid, if incredibly humiliating, alibi.

Commissioner Rice had given a presentation on the morning the crime occurred. When she bent over to pick up a pencil, Izzy had shot Stan like a rubber band into the Commissioner's crack, and despite the snickers and giggles from his fellow officers, Cynthia had remained completely oblivious to Stan's presence. He'd been devoured by her crack as she stood up straight and even remained stuck after her presentation was finished and she went back to her desk. He'd been trapped under her ass the rest of the day, and into the early hours of the morning as the Commissioner worked overtime. She didn't discover his presence until 4:00 am, an hour after the car break-in had been reported happening on the other side of the city.

Commissioner Rice confirmed his story as she took the witness stand, her face beet-red and grinding her teeth as the jury couldn't contain their giggles.

The trial lasted several hours but when it came to an end the jury declared Stan innocent of all charges. There was a clamor in the courtroom which Judge McIntosh silenced with several bangs of her gavel. Ms. Dunn, who'd fallen asleep at some point in the proceedings, woke up with a start then sat up trying to look professional. Stan ignored her.

"Very well then. Far be it from me to argue with the jury's verdict... even if I do think this man is a disgrace to the uniform. Mr. Padding, you are free to go. Court is adjourned."

Stan felt like he was waking up from a nightmare. He knew if he put his faith in the system everything would work out. He had a big, dumb smile on his face as Commissioner Rice approached him. Surely she was coming over to reinstate him and apologize for ever doubting him--

"You're through, Padding!" the Commissioner seethed.

Stan could only blink in confusion. "What?"

"You may have fooled the jury but you haven't fooled me. You're not a cop, you're a criminal, and I swear to god I will do everything in my power to make sure you never get to use a badge to commit your crimes ever again! Your partner's family has connections and I'm going to use every single one of them to make sure the next time you step into a police station, it's cause you're on your way to lockup!"

Stan didn't even get a chance to respond as Commissioner Rice was already striding away out of the courtroom. This couldn't be. How could this have happened? He was innocent! He'd been cleared of all charges in a court of law! This wasn't fair!

"Congratulations on yuh innocent verdict, Mistah Padding," Paris Dunn said. She was popping her gum and typing something on her phone. Either she hadn't heard a word Commissioner Rice had said or hadn't cared. "No need to thank me for clearin' yuh name."

"Thank... you?" Stan said, not believing what he was hearing.

"Yuh welcome. S'all part of the job, hun."

Paris Dunn prepared to get up and leave. Stan meanwhile was frozen in place. His entire world had collapsed around him as he lost the one job he'd worked his entire life to achieve.

What was he going to do next?

1) Stan sees red and tells off his public defender for being the worst lawyer he's ever met! Surprisingly, Paris Dunn does not take this well, but she does take Stan for punishment.

2) Stan's going to try to get his job back by finding out who framed him and why!

3) Not wanting to give up his dreams of being a hero, Stan's going to become a Private Detective instead. But who will hire a tiny detective?

You have the following choices:

1. The Defense Gets Offended

*Noteb*
2. Who Framed Stan Padding

3. Inch High Private Eye

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
