"Ms. Pearsly." Chantress fixed her with a level gaze. It wasn't harsh, but it still made Melona feel about two inches tall. "Did you not get the announcement this morning? All classes are canceled."
"Oh," said Melona. It felt good to finally have Professor Chantress calling her by name, rather than by "you" or "oh gods, not again," but she still felt rather silly.
"Emergency faculty meeting," said Chantress. "Nothing too concerning, but still, it means that I cannot be bothered with education this morning."
Melona nodded. "Alright. Is there--something in particular that's going on?"
Chantress sighed. "If it was something that I could tell to a student, then it wouldn't be something that would be worth an emergency meeting first thing in the morning. Suffice it to say that it--" She looked at Melona. "Hm. Suffice it to say that nobody will be dying quite yet. I would prefer to keep it that way, so I must be going. Enjoy yourself, Pearsly."
With that, Chantress strode out of the room. Despite herself, Melona couldn't help but watch the sway of the enchantment professor's hips as she left. She might not have been the most well-endowed among the faculty, but gods, those hips were to die for.
Speaking of dying, though, Melona thought, what was going on with the faculty meeting? She had never heard of this happening before. She wanted to know what was going on, but didn't want to risk getting into trouble. Not when she had lucked out of being late to class again.
