In the cozy, toy-scattered living room of the Pickles' household, Didi Pickles hummed a cheerful tune as she unpacked groceries. Tommy and Chuckie, engrossed in their imaginative play, barely noticed the rustling of bags and boxes. But little Dil's eyes sparkled with curiosity at every new item his mother placed on the kitchen counter.
"Look, Tommy," Chuckie whispered, pointing to a bright blue carton among the groceries. "What's that?"
Tommy glanced over, his interest piqued. "I dunno, but it looks neat!"
Didi, overhearing their chatter, turned and smiled. "Oh, this? It's a new kind of milk I found at the market today. Blueberry flavored! Isn't that interesting?"
Tommy and Chuckie exchanged excited glances. Blueberries were great, but blueberry milk? That sounded like something from one of Grandpa's wild stories.
As Didi busied herself with storing away the groceries, she didn't notice the small print on the milk carton's label, hidden behind a cheerful image of dancing blueberries. The words "Magical Side Effects" were written in a whimsical, almost unreadable script.
Later, when Didi left the kitchen to answer a phone call, Dil, left in his high chair, reached out with his tiny hands towards the intriguing blue carton. With a little effort, he managed to pull it towards himself, his eyes wide with wonder at the colorful packaging.
"Uh-oh," Tommy said, watching his baby brother with a mix of fascination and concern. "Should Dil be drinking that?"
But before either of the older boys could intervene, Dil had already taken a big gulp of the blueberry milk. His eyes lit up with delight at the sweet taste.
