"It's the League of Assassins. Their activity has risen significantly in the past couple weeks. I have a stack of reported kidnappings the size of a phonebook on my desk," Jim shook his head. "Only consistent details between the victims is that they're all young women," his tone made it evident to Bruce that he was worried about Barbara. He made a mental note to check up on her later.
"I was hoping you might have an idea as to why they're pullin this crap now. They've stayed out of Gotham ever since you defeated Ra's. Until now, anyway..."
"They are either trying to lure me away from Gotham where I'll be an easier target or they are up to something much worse," he didn't share the second thought with Jim.
"I'll do some digging and I'll call you when I have something."
"Alright, you know where to find—" Jim turned around to see Batman had vanished. "...me."
Bruce returned to the Batcave and had his computer start analyzing data from around the city. He tapped into smart phones, traffic cams, CCTVs, the cameras people didn't know were secretly in each of their flatscreen TVs, everything. He had his search keep an eye on anyone that fit the profile of the League's previous kidnapping victims. Young women, all with relatively athletic physiques, pretty easy on the eyes too. If Ra's was behind this, he'd get to the bottom of it.
Hours passed and his search didn't yield any useful results. He debated using Barbara as bait but he didn't want to risk her safety. She'd already taken a bullet from the Joker once before and especially after what happened to Jason, he was much more careful about how he utilized his protégés in the field. He couldn't risk another death in his family. They were all he had.
Bruce pondered for a moment with his cowl down in his computer chair as he often did. He scratched his chin. He leaned back and looked up at the screen with a new plan in mind.
"Computer, what is the status on my latest espionage equipment?"
"Your stealth suit is mostly finished. There are a few minor errors with the software but otherwise it is optimal for field usage."
Bruce had put some money into creating a sort of bodysuit that was capable of expanding or even shrinking down the mass of the wearer to match certain body types. It was based off of Plastic Man's DNA. Bruce studied how he was able to morph and shapeshift into various different people and objects. He even managed to acquire a sample or two without Plas noticing. It was highly useful for situations like these. Once the wearer was inside, there was no seam. Only the batcomputer could get it to release. He designed it like that for deep cover so it prevented him or his allies from getting compromised.
"Computer... prepare the suit..." he figured it was about time for a field test anyway.
