You decide to head to the manager Carlos' office on the 10th floor. Hopefully, he'll have an answer as to why the nurses have vanished. You start heading up the stairs to the 10th floor wondering where everyone is. You stand before the elevator but it doesn't seem to be working so you take the long walk up the stairs. Making your way past the 6th floor, you are stopped when a sound coming from behind the closed fire escape door on the 7th floor. The sounds seem to be a low groan and heavy thumping. You pause for a moment to see what's coming but your gut is telling you to run, but you ignore it again, and peek at the 7th floor door only to see a patient in a hospital gown lumbering towards you but what caught your attention was the fact that his plaid boxers were wedgied deep in his ass tied to the top of his gown his pale ass sticking out for all to see. He groaned and lunged towards you roaring out the word "WEDGIE!!!"
Your immediate instinct is to dodge and run, so you throw yourself backwards into the stairs. This gives you just enough distance, but the man was able to grab your scrubs, and drag them down to your ankles exposing your pride flag boxer briefs as he tumbled down the stairway. His mouth slobbering and a grin growing he reaches over and grabs the front of your briefs, but you were able to hop over him and retrieve your pants and made a run for it up the stairs.
Racing upstairs you arrive at the 10th floor and slam the emergency door behind you peeking out the window for the patients you'd seen but it doesn't seem like he followed you all the way up as you took a sigh of relief trying to understand what you just saw. A man in a hospital gown wedgied to the extreme. And the way he lunged towards you screaming wedgie was terrifying. You knew that there was an influx of patients before you took a nap, but it was no where near pandemic levels. Or... was it. It didn't matter, you continued towards your manager's office.
Continuing to walk through the empty hallways, you approach your manager's office, and try the door only to find it unlocked which brings a cold sweat to your head as you didn't even use your key card to open it. It was always locked unless he was expecting you. Pushing the door open, you notice that his desk was a mess with his computer left on. It's obvious he didn't expect anyone to show up and would be returning, you make your way over to the desk and sit down.
As you look through his computer, you immediately get chills and the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. His emails were mostly asking about a disease that had gotten worse than anything before and that he was calling everyone back, and he wasn't going to accept failure. The emails continue claiming infected patients were screaming the word wedgie and those who got free attacked nurses and doctors alike and yanked on their undergarments until they were infected as well. The emails continue the horror growing on your face as you see a draft. You click on it as you read your manager wrote.
"Staff. This disease is unlike anything i've seen. The patiens have gone rabid and are attacking anyone. Men, women, children, even first responders. No one is safe. I barely managed to get away from one I was treating but, my rear is sore and i can feel myself growing tired. I will lock myself in my office but if I turn into one of those monsters. Know that I" The email was unfinished as you see the blinking text line, as you feel the hair on the back of your next stand on end your gut is screaming to get out of here before it's too late.
