"Wow, Naruto, I can't believe anyone could suck so badly!"
Naruto dangled from a tree, tied up and unable to free himself. After a hard day of training for Team Seven, he had managed to fall into every trap in sight. "Are you going to help me down, or just laugh at me?" Naruto said.
"You got yourself into that," Sakura replied. "You can get yourself out."
"Come on! I'd help you if you were tied up."
"Ha! I wouldn't have fallen for such an obvious trap in the first place! And if I did, I'd get out myself." Honestly, untying oneself was a basic ninja skill. How did Naruto not know it?
"Yeah? Well, one day, I'll set a trap, and you'll fall into it! And it will be one that you can't get out of! Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but some day, Sakura! Then you'll be sorry!"
Sakura laughed and walked away, leaving him to his delusions of grandeur. Like that would ever happen.
Later the next day
Sakura found herself dangling from a tree, tied up and unable to free herself. "Well, this is an unfortunate turn of events."
"Not for me it isn't!" Naruto gloated.
"Dang it, Naruto! Do you think this is funny?"
"Hilarious."
"Well, stop laughing and help me down already!"
"Really? I thought you said you could free yourself."
"I–you–argh! Okay, I'll get out of this trap, and when I do … when I do …" She struggled against the ropes, but nothing happened. There were over sixty-nine basic knots that all ninjas were expected to memorize in the academy, but this wasn't one of them. "Hey, what kind of knot is this?"
"A Naruto knot," Naruto said.
"There's no such thing as a Naruto knot!"
"Yes there is. And you're in it. And you don't seem to be getting out of it any time soon."
Sakura grimaced. Naruto smug was worse than Naruto… Naruto anything! "Okay, you've had your fun. Now let me go."
"Fun?" he repeated. "What fun? I haven't had any fun at all yet, because the fun starts now."
Sakura swallowed, suddenly nervous and aware of what a vulnerable position she was in. "What's that supposed to mean?"
