"Well, I'm going to check on work progress, see if Natalie needs any help. Might grab a latte from the Continental too, you want anything?" Liz said to Emma as she stood up from her desk in their shared office. When she got no immediate reply from her boss, who seemed to be blankly staring across her own desk into nothingness, Liz tilted her head. "Emma?" she spoke again.
"Hmm? Oh, no I had one this morning, thank you. And yes, fine, make sure everything's in order on the shop floor." Emma finally replied, shaking herself out of her little self-induced trance.
"You got it." Liz smiled, before sauntering out of the office.
Soon as Liz had left, Emma reached to open the top right drawer of her desk, retrieving an odd looking remote control from inside. A little smirk replacing her blank expression, Emma place the remote on her desk and just sat back, studying it for a few minutes, her mind ticking over. She still didn't know who had bequethed her a body part swapping device, but she wasn't complaining in the slightest. In fact it provided her the means to get some much needed 'revenge'.
"I will not tolerate betrayal of any kind." she muttered, interlocking her fingers under her chin as her elbows rested on the arms of her chair. She was thinking of course of Elizabeth and her staff, across the road in that shitheap of a store called Kwik Save. Many employees who worked there had ditched Wilko as soon as Elizabeth had offered them jobs.
Leaning forward, she brought up the staff rotas on her computer and scrolled down, eventually highlighting Liam's name. "Good, he's working for this morning, and Kwik Save this afternoon." she mumbled, also checking up on all the other staff she had working today. Emma had a plan that involved her body part swapping device, and it involved fucking over Kwik Save for good. But... she wasn't sure she trusted Liam enough to carry the task through. In fact... she knew she didn't trust him to do it.
Picking up the phone, Emma tapped the buttons to activate the tannoy. "This is a Wilko staff announcement, Liam and... Rebekah come to my office please." she said in a clear, professional voice... after glancing at the employee list again. She then put the phone down and waited for her two summoned employees to arrive in her office.
Nobody but her knew about the remote yet, but it wouldn't be a secret for much longer.
