Nightwing is investigating Banes escape from Arkham when he comes across a vat of suspicious bright green ooze. Dick knows that this is one of the muscled rogues hideouts, meaning this liquid probably has something to do with muscle growth. However the green liquid did not resemble Bane's Venom, nor did it resemble sickly green Lazarus Pit water. Dick had no way of testing the liquid, and given that Batman was currently off world responding some intergalactic squabble, Nightwing did something that he would probably regret if Batman ever found out.
He dipped his gloved finger into the exposed vat, and when the ooze didn't melt his uniform, he stuck his finger into his mouth and sucked off the ooze. Dick felt more confident in his rash decison when he didn’t immediately die. Given that he didn't grow into a hulking mass of muscle like Bane, he was also correct that the oozing liquid was not a variation of Bane's Venom.
In fact the tasteless ooze didn't seem to do anything at all. Dick was almost disappointed. The only thing he felt was a vague uncomfortable feeling in a couple places on his suit, but to be fair, he'd been chasing a muscle bound psychopath for several hours straight now, of course he'd be chaffing. So he didn't bother looking to closely at what was causing the sensations. He'd check when he managed to get back to the Batcave.
Dick was distracted when several of banes muscled goons lept from the shadows, forcing Nightwing into a tense fight. Strangely enough, he wasn’t finding the fight especially difficult. Also, weren't banes goons usually a lot more intimidating? Instead this time they were roughly his height? But this wasn’t the time, as more goons pour into the warehouse. Despite his earlier success, Nightwing is soon overrun by Banes goons, and is quickly surrounded, with the vat of ooze behind him as his only means of escape. Not that he'd jump in there, and if licking it hadn't achieved anything.
The goons kept advancing, and Nightwing moved backwards before he remembered that there was no platform left behind him. The vigilante slipped, falling unceremoniously into the bright green liquid. Dick sinks to the bottom of the ooze quickly, his strong strokes now enough to get himself back to the surface. Dick blacks out...
...Only to wake up an unknown amount of time later, sitting at the bottom of the now empty vat, with all of Banes goons looking down at him. He looks around, confused, and becomes even more confused when all the goons wear matching looks of terror.
It was almost funny, seeing such large and intimidating men look like remorseful children or puppies about to be kicked, but he remains confused as to why their demeanours shifted while he was passed out.
