"Mom just got home and I can't let her see me like this! There can't be two of us! I don't have time to change back, I have to hide!" You look around but don't see anywhere you can hide in well enough
"I got a spot, but it's uh... it's a secret. I can hide instead, would that work?"
Knowing you don't have much choice even if the thought makes you anxious, you nod. "Yeah it will. Quickly! She's coming!" You see her moving towards the door, looking towards the hallway and not noticing you yet. Rufus dashes off to a corner and you watch him shimmy himself into a hole under a bush that's concealed enough for him to be completely hidden. You turn back and see the door open and you mom calls out
"There you are Rufus! Come're boy! Come on, come inside." You almost forget you look just like Rufus, and it takes a moment before you realize she's telling you to go inside. Begrudgingly, you walk inside and look back to see Rufus's head just barely visible to your keen canine eyesight. He likely heard his name and wasn't sure whether to come out or not. Thank goodness he didn't; that would have made things complicated again. You follow your mom inside, and after shutting the door she addresses you as Rufus again
"Hey buddy, it looks like Marcus went out with friends or something so you'll have to wait for dinner from Luke tonight, okay? I have to work and don't have time right now." She walks to the back of the house to her office and sits down to work. Quietly, you get close to the door again and realize you can't open it with your paws, even though you know it works. You look back to make sure she's not looking and she seems to be engrossed in work once again. You look back out at the yard, and see Rufus looking back at you patiently, not sure what to do.
