The door handle turned and an older looking woman walks in. She might have been around late 30s to early 40s but still looking good for her age. The mother paused as she stopped in her tracks. Tears welled up within her as she rushed to her daughter and gave her a big hug.
“Thank goodness you’re awake!” The mother said in between sobs. Jonathan didn’t know what to do as he stood there. He then slowly raised his arms around the older woman and weakly embraced her. “You don’t how worried sick I’ve been.” The women started running her hands through Jonathan’s hair. Almost as if he would somehow disappear again. The woman eventually composed, wiping her tears, she let go of Jonathan. “Now come, we must tell everyone the good news.” She took Jonathan by the hand and led her out the room, down a winding stair case, and eventually through a pair of ginormous doors. Inside were two people. A little girl in a fancy dress, and a boy a little bit older than the girl wearing a nice button up suit. The two children turned there attention to the pair entering the room and there eyes light up with joy. They rush towards Jonathan, embracing him, almost causing him to fall over.
“Big sister!” They cried.
“You had us so worried!” The boy said.
“Don’t ever leave again!” The girl shouted through tears.
“What do I do!” Thought Jonathan. “Crap, of all the positions to be in, why did it have to be this!?” “I know, I’ll play the amnesia card.” “Given the lady’s reaction, I must have been a sleep for a while.” “Ok, here goes nothing.”
Jonathan looked down and the children hugging him and took a deep breath, and said “I’m sorry but, who are you people?” The children froze in shock. They let go of their “sister” and took a step back.
“Hey now, don’t say something like that!” Said the boy.
“What do you mean sister, you know us, It’s us!” Shouted the little girl.
The older women came forward and went behind the kids. She put her arms around them and looked at Jonathan.
“Do you really not recognize your family?” She said, choking back tears.
“I’m sorry but, I have never seen you people before.” Replied Jonathan. “And not just you all, but where am I, and who am I?”
