Chapter #5

The Tables Have Turned

    by: Doom Author IconMail Icon
You need help, so you can't be fussy. You march your toddler-sized ass directly up to the door of Lexi's room - the room that used to serve as a games room for you and your father before Rachel moved in with her bratty kid - and rap on it with your knuckles.

The door opens to reveal the towering form of Lexi, who takes a moment to realise she has to look down to see who has disturbed her. When she does, her first reaction is one of puzzlement. "Who are you?" she demands, her high-pitched voice now high in volume as it blasts from a mouth bigger than yours.

Then her eyes widen as she recognises you, and you quail before the smile that spreads across her face. "Mark?" As she seems to stand eight feet tall to you, with the bulkier build of a child, Lexi's like an ogre out of a fairy tale. She crosses her arms, and you can't help but notice how much thicker than yours they are, and how much stronger than you this 'little girl' must be,

"What happened to you?" she asks.

"Long story short," - Lexi giggles at the accidental pun - "I shrunk myself, and need your help to get back to normal."

"Oh yeah?" she retorts, with a tone you can't say you care for. "Why would I do that, when you wouldn't cover for me after the microwave broke?"

"That was your faul-"

Lexi growls, a low rumble that stops you mid-sentence. "You want my help?"

"Yes!"

"Wrestle me for it."

Yes, you have play-wrestled with Lexi before, but now the kid's big enough to do some real damage to you, possibly even overpower you. Do you really think you can beat her? This might be a chance toprove that it was your skill and experience that let you win, not superior strength! Would that be worth a risk, though?

Maybe you could offer Lexi something else, instead. You must have plenty of possessions you could trade...

Or you could cut your losses here and try something else.
