Since you know you are getting smaller and smaller, you decide to use it to your advantage. Eventually you will get so small that you can crawl under the door like a bug. At that point you will be in the house, you will find a way upstairs and then find that device. The end. On the other hand it opens up options to get help as well.
With your plan in place, you enact it by... waiting. You watch as the door ocassionally grows through your shrinking spurts. The potted plant becomes a sky scraper. The doormat fabric's become a tall grass. The wasp flying above to find a spot for a nest is like a flying airplane. And the ants are the size of dogs as they crawl around in the distance like a pack of feral animals looking for food. Up the small ledge below the front door, you can see through the tiniest gap under the door. You go up the ledge and try to crawl through the gap. You are shimmying through when you notice yourself shrinking again and you no longer are pressed between the floor and the bottom of the door. In fact, you stand up and have plenty of space.
You walk through the underside of the door and find yourself met with the cool, airconditioned environment of the house. The air flowing through the vents above creates a constant loudness. The sounds of low-pitched giants in the distance fills the air with echoes as you can't decipher the origin of the voices. You just know that you are at the small foyer-area in front of the front door where everyone slides off their slip-off style shoes like flip flops and sandals. You are left gazing up at a pink sandal sole that extends above like a mountainous cliff. The sandal itself is big enough to crush several houses lined up together, or probably a small neighborhood relative to your size. This sandal belongs to the smallest person in the house, your friend's kid sister, Kylie.
Your heart is pounding in fear. Those dog sized ants outside are probably a little bigger than you at this point, if not much bigger. You are going to be walking for awhile and really need a plan. Simply walking upstairs is impossible at this height. The floor is hardwood so at least it is easy to walk on despite the grooves and rough terrain. At normal size it would be so smooth and easy but at least it isn't like the rug in the living room. In the distance you can see it and know that if you shrink much smaller it would be like a jungle to you.
