Harper was able to get to the area where the disappearances were said to take place. Nobody knows what exactly had happened to the missing people/pokemon, but that was going to be Harpers job as a new ranger, to find the perpetrators, and if possible, retrieve the missing people or pokemon.
This was not his first mission, but this would be his first proper assignment that he would be doing mostly by himself.
Once there, he begins his investigation to look for evidence of any of the missing people, clothing, tracks, campsites and what have you.
He doesn't know it yet, but this was going to be a bit bigger than for one person to handle, as it was more than one anthro pokemon working as a team for one reason or another, and it didn't take long for a member of this group to spot and watch him from the shadows, just out of his sight for the time being.
