Chapter #4Professor Patrick Palmer, in the Past by: TomSketchit (Note: This is a crossover with another branch of the story. That branch is not required reading, as only the main human character is included. https://www.writing.com/main/interactive... )
Patrick Palmer sighed, the young scholar trying to adjust the odd outfit his hosts had provided for him upon taking him into their fold. He still couldn't believe the odd situation he had managed to get himself into...
For over a year, the newest Professor to grace the Pokemon world had been researching the recently developed cases of Anthrolution, developing a system of classification to help better understand the effects of the phenomenon, helping people to accept it as the new normal for the Pokemon world. He had met with many anthro Pokemon of all shapes, sizes, and variants multiple times, studied their DNA, even managed to induce Anthrolution artificially in his lab (though the resulting Pokemon, with approximately five Variants simultaneously, had been difficult to contain afterwards...). There was only one thing he had yet to accomplish...
... he had wanted to investigate claims of Anthro Legendary Pokemon. Claims that they existed and were special even amongst other anthro Pokemon, having a strange power...
His memory was a bit hazy at this point, but he remembered that his expedition had been fruitful, that he had come face to face with an anthro Legendary, though he couldn't remember which one. He remembered being in awe of them and their sheer power, standing in front of what was basically a deity. He remembered some of the words they had spoken to him...
"You have done well, young Palmer. We have been watching your work with great interest. For the care you have shown our kind, we will grant you an opportunity that will broaden your experiences more than anything you may find in this era..."
And everything went dark after that. When he awoke, he was laying in the wilderness, being examined by people wearing strange uniforms.
In time, he realized that he had been sent into the past. And, shocking him greatly, he found that this time period was also experiencing an Anthrolution epidemic of its own, though one that was much more dangerous due to the untamed nature of this world. How had he come across no record of this event in his research? Seeing this, he now knew why he had been sent here...
He sighed, shaking his head. Thankfully, his knowledge of the anthros had garnered him favor with the community that had taken him in, as they had none in their midst who could understand what was going on. Today, they were insisting that he get himself a partner to help him brave the wilderness to do his research. He thought back to his home, to the Pokemon partners he'd been made to leave behind when being sent back to the past alone. He hoped no time passed between being sent away and returning, not wanting to leave them by themselves for so long... Shaking off the feelings and resolving himself to solve the mysteries of this world and find a way back to his time, the professor set off to get the partner his new benefactors requested of him. The good news was that they had a number of pretrained Pokemon for new people setting off into the field for the first time. The "bad" news (they seemed to think so, at least; he wasn't too bothered by it himself) was that all of them had been afflicted by Anthrolution in some way. Going to the pastures and looking over his options, he chose...
(Options will be open, I only request that you only use a first stage, evolving Pokemon.) indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
