Chapter #6

A Friendly Accident: First Awake

    by: Billis Author IconMail Icon
You awake with something of a start, still on Wendy's bed and dressed in a doll's dress. The momentary hope that last night had been some kind of dream is gone immediately. Wendy was no longer propped up staring at you, instead the Abner was laying on her back next to you. She was just laying on top of the covers, fully dressed. Her eyes were closed, and she was so still that if she was anyone but an Abner you might think she was dead. Had she gone to sleep? Wendy had said that she only slept when she wanted to, she had mentioned wanting to have a sleepover, so maybe this was her trying to do that.
You slowly stood to your feet, it was a little difficult to maintain your balance on the unsteady surface of Wendy's pillow but you managed it well enough. Looking down the bed you could see the fully length of Wendy's body stretching away from you, once again putting in perspective just how tiny you were. You suddenly remembered the spider, Mrs. Webber as Wendy had called it, and glanced around, but the arachnid was nowhere in sight. You weren't sure if you preferred having Mrs. Webber where you could see her, or out of your sight where she could be theoretically anywhere.
Looking around, there wasn't much for you to do. You spotted an old analogue clock on Wendy's bedside table, which read that it was 9:30. Assuming the clock was set correctly you'd been asleep for five hours, or possibly seventeen. But you doubted that you would have slept that long, unless maybe Abner magic had that kind of effect on you. It made you a bit uncomfortable thinking about how Wendy had shrunk you on accident. If she could do that on accident, then there's no telling what else her magic might have unintentionally done to you.
As for what to do next, you could try to explore on your own, maybe find a way to escape, though Mrs. Webber was around here somewhere, and you had no idea what else might be lurking in the massive house. You had the feeling that any other Abners that might find you wouldn't be as kind as Wendy had been. Though, calling Wendy's actions kind felt like a bit of a stretch, you knew she was trying to be friendly, but she had fully shrunk and kidnapped you on a whim. Your only other real option would be to wait for Wendy to wake up, how long do Abners sleep for? Do they get to choose? You could try waking her up, but startling her might be a bad idea... Or would Wendy like being startled with how backwards Abners could sometimes be? It was very daunting having your life in the hands of someone who just operated on different logic than you or anyone else you'd ever known. You spent another few minutes agonizing over the decision before eventually settling on your next course of action.

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. You find a way to get down from Wendy's bed and explore.

*Noteb*
2. You try to wake Wendy up.

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
