Chapter #4

Helping the semi-truck

CRASH!!!

That was the sound that snatched the attention of the entire neighborhood, as down the block, a big semi-truck lost balance in too sharp of a turn and toppled over.

"Whoa! What was that?" Jacob asked, shocked as the two headed to the street. "Oh jeez! That truck toppled over! I hope nobody was hurt by it."

Nick however, didn't waste time and instead took off down the road to go see if he could help.

"Nick! Wait!" Jacob called after him, but before Nick even realized something had happened, he was nearly to the truck. The young super boy was tremendously muscular and strong. It made Jacob shake his head a bit, he needed to learn more about remembering that. "Jeez Nick, I know you wanna protect people but don't rush so much." he thought to himself.

Running down the street to catch up to Nick, Jacob found himself rather winded. Either Nick would need to be better at bringing him along, or else Jacob himself might just need a bit of a muscle-up from the Pearl, cuz that was a bit more tiring than he thought.

"Phew..." Jacob said, "Nick, you gotta slow down sometimes man. You're the one with all the muscle between us, all the strength. You need to remember that. I can't keep up with your super-strong body, I'm still just a normal kid."
"R-Right!" replied Nick, feeling embarrassed. "W-Well...anyways though, the driver was ok, and nobody was hurt by the truck flipping over, but it's also blocking the road, nobody can get through."
"Hmm...can you move the truck?"
"I tried. It's too heavy for me."
Jacob nodded, "Well, were this any other circumstances I'd be way more worried, but we've got the Pearl, Nick."
"Of course! So...should I wish for more strength?"
"Yes, you're right, but you need to be precise. You should say..." as Jacob handed the Pearl over, "I wish to become twice as strong as I am already."
"Sure!" Nick took the Pearl and nodded, "Ok! I wish I was twice as strong as I am now!"

There was a groan from Nick as the power surged into his muscles from the magic of the Pearl. Jacob watched as the already really big, strong kid swelled with even larger, harder muscles across his frame, getting to be as strong as about 2,500 adult men put together when all was said and done.

"Sheesh, I'm a bit jealous, Nick." Jacob said, then paused, as a rush of memories were altered once more, "You're two years younger than me, yet all I can remember is you've always been crazy muscular and taller than me." he continued, poking at Nick's even more muscled-up chest, having to actually look 'up' at the 8 year old superboy in front of him before taking back the Pearl from him. "Alright, now go get that truck fixed and turned back over."
"Right!"

So Nick walked over to the truck, getting a good lifting position in as he got his grip, then began to try to lift it up.

"Argh! It's so much heavier than I thought!" Nick called out.
"Lift with your legs! Use those giant pillars you call 'thighs' and get that truck turned back upright!" Jacob called back

Nick shifted his stance, and while it was tough, he had the muscle power to get the truck slowly back up. As he got it off the ground, the effort got easier, because he was able to improve his leverage. Thankfully as well the rig had come undone from the trailer, so Nick was only having to lift up the full trailer in the back, and the rig could come next, as it would also be far easier.

It was not a fast process even so. The sheer size of the trailer was a lot to balance, coupled with the fact that it also was full of cargo, that was shifting around as Nick lifted it up, but he did slowly, carefully, get the entire thing back up. And as thought, the rig was way easier, because that was more a frontal weight, and once Nick got it started, turning the entire thing back over was almost no effort whatsoever.

Still it absolutely tired Nick out, and while he blushed and smiled at the claps from the small group of people who'd gathered to watch, he was pretty much worn. Even with all his strength, that had taken his 100% to accomplish. Not that anyone was complaining, but he knew he was probably tapped out for the day otherwise.

"Good job, Nick! You did it!" Jacob said, giving Nick a big pat on the back. "See! I knew you could do it. Those muscles are meant to help others you know. You're really like a young superhero now, you've got super-strength, super-jumping, and nigh-super-speed to boot."
"Phew...yeah, it was really tiring to do that, but it also felt really good to help others too. But I think I'm ready to head back to your place, I'm worn out!"
"Nah you're not." Jacob responded, handing back the Pearl, "Just wish for your energy to be restored, and you'll be right as rain!"
"Oh! You're right, Jacob." he took the Pearl, "I wish my energy was restored!"

To which suddenly Nick felt a lot more perked up and energetic, ready to move on with his day and do more stuff with his big, strong muscles. But also, both boys noticed that the Pearl was looking a bit dimmed, it had maybe one good wish before it would need to recharge. Still, that just meant that they had to be more choosy what that wish was until that point.
