"Zen... now there's a name I haven't heard for a while..."
Jonny's thoughts took him back to his college days and how their friendship started. Despite the fact that he never told anybody about his initial powers, he couldn't help but to become reclusive around others when he lost them as his confidence took a nose dive.
Meeting the group of friends he did managed to help him reinvent himself for a time. Slowly, he regained his self confidence with their help and support. Despite never knowing his secrets, he could open up to them about other things. It almost helped him to feel normal again.
At the core that group was Zen. Her charming and cute nature, along with her fun sense of humour, had been a comforting factor for him during darker days. As time went on however, he realised that some of the feelings he harboured for her went deeper than friendship alone.
The pretty, half Pakistani girl had become a source of infatuation for him. She wasn't a cheerleader or model, the type of girl he could get his hands on before, but she possessed a different kind of beauty, from her lovely face and green eyes, down to her perky little body. All features he noticed more and more.
When at last he felt like he'd gained the confidence to ask her out however, he discovered that she didn't replicate those feelings towards him. She instead had feelings for a mutual friend of theirs, Adeel. Whilst Jonny couldn't hate them for it, he very much kept a sense of resentment harboured away inside of him.
As he learned to cope with this revelation, his mind couldn't help but drift back to his powers. They could have benefited him to no end in situation like this. He knew that, not only those close to him, but the whole college could be messed with. But the logical side of him told him they weren't coming back.
Until, of course, they did.
With his powers now permanent, he wasted no time in putting all he'd fantasised into practice, including getting 'close' to Zen. He'd enjoyed her body like he'd enjoyed many other girls. But a part of him knew that despite being able to get away with this, that element of mutual attraction he craved may never exist properly. With his waning shred of morals still in tact, he decided to ease away from her slowly.
He payed her one or two visits in university to keep an eye on her. By this time, much of the old friend group had drifted apart as they moved around the country for their studies. She stayed local though, studying and achieving in a criminology course. Last he'd left her, she seemed to be on a great course for her future.
It came as shock to him then, that when he tracked her down through social media, that she had seemingly done a 180 on the life she was building. Her ultimately strict, Muslim father had put pay to her and her older sisters ambitions here and had them married off. Zen's relationship with Adeel had seemingly broken off in the maelstrom and now she found herself married to somebody he didn't even know in Dubai.
For a couple years, she fell off of Jonny's radar all together. However, on planning his return home, he noticed a fun coincidence.
She would be back home for a few weeks, visiting friends and family whilst her husband kept working abroad.
This was his opportunity to maybe take her body for one last spin. And put to bed some questions he'd long asked himself about the two of them.
Where does he find her?
