"It was likely... me!"
Hearing a deep, unfamiliar voice behind her, Paya slid to her right, narrowly avoiding a long, incredibly sharp blade that cut right through the air where she had just been standing. Drawing her own weapon, she turned to face her surprise attacker, only to find herself staring at nothing. Narrowing her eyes, she tightened her grip on both her weapon and her spoils.
"Who... Who's there?!" She called out, taking a moment to calm herself and sense her surroundings. There were a couple of wild horses grazing to her right, a Korok hiding beneath a rock was a few feet in front of her, and she could still feel the Bokoblins running away from her. There was nothing nearby capable of sneaking up on her, a trained Sheikah. Only another, more experienced Sheikah could possibly catch her off guard. "No, that's not true... T-T-They could!"
Her earlier courage immediately deserted her as a chorus of low chuckles surrounded her. Falling to her knees, both her kodachi and the Bokoblin Horn fell from her hands, despair quickly setting in. It was just like that time, many years ago, when she thought herself ready to leave the village, only to be immediately accosted by a group of Yiga.
"I expected more from the granddaughter of the great Impa".
A figure that towered over her fallen body appeared a few feet in front of her. Slung over their back was a large sword, similar to the one that had almost just sliced her in half, while their buff frame was clad in a dark red and black jumpsuit, a mask with an inverted eye hiding their face.
"Pity," The figure grunted, kneeling down. Even on their knees, they were still a good two foot taller than Paya. "I was hoping for a worthy opponent. Then again, had Master Kohga wanted you dead, you would already be so. But our Master has a plan for you. Now, sleep!"
Before Paya had a chance to even call out, a gloved hand clasped over her mouth, and all went dark.
