When Arthur Curry aka Aquaman took over as the King of Atlantis, Mera became queen as was always destined. She was very happy to not only have him as her King but as her partner as well. Arthur had an adventurous spirit and the ruling of the kingdom on a day to day basis was not something that interested him and he asked Mera to do it which she agreed.
The day to day ruling could be boring but it had to be done and it was something that she had trained for under the previous queen Atlanna. She felt ready for the task at hand. After a 2 hour meeting on the state of the kingdom, Mera was ready for a break, and she felt hungry.
Turning to Nuidis Vuko, the chief counselor, Mera said, "Please bring me a snack. All this ruling has gotten me hungry" she said.
"Of course my queen" Vuko said respectfully with a bow before taking his leave. He returned with a plate of seaweed. He knew it was one of her favorite snacks.
"Thank you" Mera said with an appreciative smile. She took the snack and munched on it as she set for the rest of the royal agenda. Arthur was right that being a ruler could be boring but it was an important job.
"Well that concludes our business for the day my queen" Vuko said as he bowed politely.
A smile spread across Mera's face. "Thank you Vuko! See you tomorrow" she said before heading for the surface.
