Chapter #7

Part of a balanced breakfast

It took some time for his eyes to adjust in the dark, but he noticed that the walls surrounding him reached out to a closed off ceiling. There was no light to shine down on him or where he was. When he looked down, he didn’t need it to figure out what happened to him.

He was almost submerged in a massive pile of rings, a few of which were like three times larger than a pool float. They looked quite hard to the touch, yet he noticed a faint smell while his hand moved on its rough surface. Oddly enough it smelled like honey.

“Please don’t tell me I somehow ended up inside a giant cereal box!” He didn’t want to believe it, but all signs pointed to it as the truth. It wasn’t clear how he ended up in here, maybe someone had taken him and placed him inside, or maybe that package somehow teleported him here. Whichever answer it might be sounded pretty bad.

Before he could attempt to climb up the massive rings, the ceiling was ripped open. Light bore down on the contents inside, almost blinded him again before he felt the box being lifted from its spot. He knew all too well that this was the start of the morning routine, and what’s gonna happen next.

“Ahhh!” He screamed when the box started to tip to the side. He quickly grabbed one of the rings and stayed attached while the pile started to bury him. The avalanche of cereal soon became a free fall, dropping down towards a massive white bowl and landing audibly inside until it nearly filled the whole thing.

Fortunately, Peter had turned out okay for the most part. He was within the newly made pile, but he wasn’t crushed between each piece. Still, he was shaken up by the fall and the fact that he was so small that something like cereal could’ve hurt him, or worse.

“That was too close.” He muttered, but then knew that what came next was gonna be even worse. There was one key component necessary to making this cereal taste better.

A giant waterfall of milk began filling up the bowl. It was almost too fast for him to react in time before he was almost submerged completely. He remained stuck to the giant honey-scented ring for a while just before he could feel the milk break off his hold. He still grabbed on so he didn’t end up falling into it.

This was really bad. Soaking wet from the thing he used to drink every morning, Peter thought about some random scene from a movie where a shrunken kid fell into a giant bowl of cereal, almost doomed to be eaten alive by an unsuspecting giant. Being in the soaking shoes of that kid wasn’t what he wanted to experience.

But who was the giant that had no idea of the tiny addition to their cereal?
