The Two Giantesses of Asgard

Peter sat in the jar contemplating his circumstances. He could have ended up with a lot of bad people when the Guardians ended up selling him, he was actually relieved that he ended up with Lady Sif. It seems like she was one who was more than willing to potentially help him, and from what he heard from Thor she was an honorable woman. So, sitting in her satchel as he was carried, he wasn’t as concerned as he had been previously.

It didn’t seem to take that long for Lady Sif to reach her location though, Peter noted as he heard the opening and shutting of doors. Even the voices seemed to be muffled which seemed a bit unusual to him. He shrugged, ‘Must be made of different materials on Asgard.’ Minutes passed by before Peter felt the bag containing him be set down. Blinking, Peter looked around as he got up and placed his hands on the glass jar. ‘It seems like we’ve arrived somewhere. I wonder what Lady Sif’s plan is to help me. I can’t imagine this situation is common, even on Asgard, so it’ll be interesting to see how she might be able to help me.’

Peter looked up as the top of the bag opened, the light revealing that they had indeed moved inside to a gorgeous room. A hand reached in and grabbed the jar, Peter braced himself as the jar was lifted out of the bag. Just as he thought the room was decadent, just what could be imagined when thinking of Asgard. It was Lady Sif that was holding his jar and placed it on the table next to her satchel. As Peter reacquired his bearings, he noticed that the two of them were not alone in the room. Staring down at him was a beautiful older woman, with hair a soft brown and eyes that looked down at him with not only a keen intelligent gaze, but one that held a mischievous look in them as well. She looked familiar to him, but Peter wasn’t able to place her.

“So, you are saying that you purchased this young Midgardian warrior off a black-market site,” the older woman questioned the shieldmaiden.

“Yes, my Queen. I was proceeding with an investigation on the site when I came across the Man of Spiders. As I have heard of him from the Prince, I thought it best to acquire him immediately. Though upon arrival he was in this condition, which is unusual if I am remembering the tales correctly.”

Peter’s eyes widened as he heard how Lady Sif referred to the older woman. Now he remembered her, this was Thor’s mother, the Queen of Asgard herself, Frigga. He was able to see the resemblance between the two even more now that he knew who she was. Peter gave a sigh of relief; Thor had told tales of his mother’s great skill with the magical arts. She would be able to figure out some way in which to help him, if not turn him back entirely.

Queen Frigga nodded, “Well, let us see what we can do in regard to the young warrior.”

What do Frigga and Sif have planned for Peter?

1. Queen Frigga has a few potential ways in which she can aid Lady Sif in returning the young hero to his normal size but must consult some tomes first. Lady Sif decides to take that time to learn more about the Man of Spiders, and if other Midgardian warriors are like him.

2. Peter should have known better to trust someone who had a hand in raising Loki, not to mention Thor. They had to have gotten their mischievous nature from somewhere, and from what he heard that was certainly not Odin. Queen Frigga mentions to Lady Sif that they don’t often see much of each other anymore with Thor constantly away. Why not have some girl time at the expense of the shrunken Midgardian?

3. While the Queen consults with her magic tomes, Lady Sif figures she can take the opportunity to enjoy the young warrior. After all, there must be something about Midgardians that would draw Prince Thor’s attention from his own. Peter was expecting help, but he certainly wasn’t expecting to be used as a toy while help was coming.

4. Queen Frigga tells Lady Sif that there isn’t much that can be done without the compound that shrunk the Midgardian warrior. Lady Sif decides to take Peter back to her personal residence right outside the palace while she goes about the search. What situations will Peter get into while in the home of an Asgardian shield maiden as well-known as Lady Sif?
