Sarah’s Date Setup

    by: Alistair Author IconMail Icon
You sighed with relief upon realising that it was Sarah, the most trustworthy of your immediate family, that had set you up.

You had no idea who you had been set up with, Sarah had wanted to keep that a surprise. So all you could do was wait and wonder who it could be.

You trusted Sarah more than anyone, so you knew she would never intentionally set you up with anyone who you wouldn’t get along with. However, she was sometimes a little too trusting with people who hadn’t outright proven to be a problem before. So there was a possibility she might have gotten the wrong impression of whoever she had set you up with.

The sound and vibrations of approaching footsteps interrupted your thoughts, before stopping when the footsteps came to a halt directly outside of your apartment.

A gentle tap on the side of your habitation block confirmed your suspicions that it was Sarah who had arrived.

Exiting your apartment, you were greeted with the site of your oldest sisters pink flip flop clad feet, which stood a respectable distance away from your door, on the other side of the designated tiny guy walkways so she wasn’t blocking anyone’s path.

Glancing upwards your gaze quickly passed over her long, toned legs, which were left mostly uncovered by a small white skirt. Her generous chest was covered by a yellow tank top, with a thin denim jacket draped over the top of it.
Your eyes finally settled on her smiling face, framed by her long blonde hair. Her brown eyes beamed down at you, clearly happy to see you.

“Hi Ant! You all set for your blind date?” You could tell from the tone of her voice that Sarah was really excited to be setting you up on a date. She was aware of how difficult dating had been for you, being the person who had essentially rescued you from your last relationship. She was hopeful that her pick would treat you better.

“Yeah all good to go, who have you set me up with anyway?” You shouted up to her.

Before she answered, Sarah lowered her hand down to you, palm facing upwards, and you readily climbed on. Standing up to her full height once again, Sarah raised you to her face, most likely figuring it was easier to continue a conversation with you closer to her face.
She began to walk away from your apartment.

“Oh yeah, I completely forgot that I’ve told you basically nothing about her,” your sister laughed at her mistake. “She is…”

1) “… one of the girls that I work with at the hospital. Just like you she’s just come out of a long term relationship. The guy she was with just up and left with no warning. Didn’t even stick around to formally break up with her.”
While you were sure that your date was telling the truth from her perspective, it seemed to you like this woman had unintentionally lost a tiny guy and mistook his disappearance for him leaving. It left you worried that maybe Sarah hadn’t realised how inattentive her coworker was.
You could be wrong, however, surely Sarah wouldn’t be too trusting to set you up with someone who had a history of their boyfriends going missing, would she?

2) “… a friend of Vicky’s actually, one of her running buddies. She thought you two would make a good match and set it up, I’ve only met her a couple of times, but she seems nice.”
You were a little taken aback by the fact that Vicky had set you up with someone, you had always gotten the impression she never liked you very much, maybe you were wrong?
(In reality, Vicky had set you up on this date to get her friend to test you to see if her suspicions about you being a pervert were correct or not.)

3) “… one of the girls that I work with at the hospital. I think you’ll really like her!”
Once Sarah gets you to the location of the date, you two wait for a while before you eventually realise she’s not coming.
Sarah returns you home and you decide to log in to one of the dating sites you had signed up to and hadn’t used for a while, hoping to see if you had any new matches during your absence.

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. Sarah’s Inattentive(?) Coworker

*Noteb*
2. Vicky’s Investigative Friend

3. Stood Up

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
