She took a moment in reflection, every geeky nick-nack suddenly morphed into a fun possibility in Lauren's thoughts. Her mousy friend sure had strange taste, perhaps she'd neglected to notice in the past but she sure seemed to like the unreachable. Each poster portrayed some mystical protagonist, she didn't recognise them all but it was obvious many wielded uncanny powers. Over a third had the main character holding a weird screwdriver-looking-object out like a pistol, the font was identical to May's unfashionable shirt.
"I never realised how many figures you had in here."
Lauren stated, finger brushing against her bottom lip.
Timidly, May gazed over her growing collection of anime figurines and collectable merchandise.
"Um, yeah, I guess it's getting a bit out of hand"
Lauren picked up and discarded an empty packet of crisps then got a closer look at the figures.
"Hey, I know this one!" She looked to May who was growing increasingly thrilled that her friend was taking a sudden interest in her horde of dorky toys. "Naruto is it?"
"Yeah! Hey Lauren, you started watching anime?"
"Just a little" she laughed. She had to bite her tongue and stop her eyes from rolling, not an easy act to keep up. Then suddenly she winced as a basic childish knowledge of japanese animation flooded her mind. Shit, that wasn't meant to happen. It wasn't so bad to stop her, she could purge that useless information later. She scanned the figures to see if any others had the name written on the base, none did but she had a splendid idea forming.
"There's lots of girls aren't there?"
May pulled at her hair, "mhmm, I guess."
"Oh don't play shy with me, I've seen the novels you've been reading May, you're not ashamed are you?"
"What! No, d-don't tease me Lauren it's not funny, I just like the shows and ... and there's lots of male figures too." Mays bottom lip was showing. "It's not like that..."
"I know, lots of shirtless male figures with big bulging muscles, maybe I need to watch more anime." Lauren giggled but May felt her cheeks flush with blood. "No but seriously, they're pretty hot, boys or girls... like, who's this cheeky lookin one next to Naruto?"
May hesitated, nothing good could come from Lauren's mischievous smile. She couldn't see her angle.
"It's Hinata, his w~ Hey! I thought you were watching it, you should already know her... though I guess she's a little older."
"Wow talk about a glow up, she's a total baddie"
Lauren winked to May who shied away.
"What're you doing Lauren?"
"Can't I appreciate them like you do?" She replied quickly with a wicked grin.
"I don't like this Lauren, you're not being serious."
May suddenly felt a looming sense of shame gathering like a dark cloud over her.
"Okay, maybe not, but I do like the look of this Hinata girl... she kinda reminds me of you"
The shocking statement rattled May, her shoulders tensed.
"Me?"
May's flustered form teetered from one foot to the other like a leaf in a strong wind unable to stay still. She debated on the idea, trying to figure out if it was insulting, sure... she could be timid and bashful like Hinata but was that a good thing.
"Don't play coy May, big perky boobs, I guess they just remind me of yours."
May clutched her chest apprehensively. Her brow fell into a dazed frown, "What're you trying to say!" she whined, unaware her stiffening nipples now tented the fabric of the worn shirt. Lauren bit her lips restlessly, drinking in the wonderful consequces of her words. The text stretched wider as May's chest fattened right under her cute little nose. Her expression softened and she gently soothed the sore sensation in her breasts. Lauren watched in awe as her mousy little friend's not-so-little jugs rose under her touch to rest higher on her chest, she looked like an exaggerated barbie doll from the early 90s.
"Not annoyed anymore?"
Laura asked tentatively.
"Ugh, no... I get it, just don't know what's gotten into you today?"
May tucked her shirt back into her trousers, she felt bothered by Lauren's lingering stare but not quite bold enough to speak up.
"I take it back girl, yours look a bit bigger."
"Lauren pack it in!" May squealed.
"Sorry, sorry!" Lauren stuck out her tongue, her sadistic side seeping through the cracks. May just about managed to tuck in her shirt again, she really didn't fancy throwing out her favourite top.
