"Hey there, long time no see, Hun!"
Caleb smiled, happy to hear his usual greeting as he entered Cutie Pie's again, his usual Wednesday order already cooling on the counter. He'd been showing up consistently every Hump Day, rain or shine, for the better part of three months now, always excited to see the girl he was secretly smitten with. Cutie Pie's was never terribly busy on Wednesdays, the rare customer flitting in and out of the store and never sticking around for too long, while most of the dedicated regulars were more commonly seen in the mornings or on the weekends. That gave Caleb plenty of time to chat and become friendly with his crush, the two getting to know each other quite well in the quarter of a year that had gone by. If only he could move things a little bit beyond friendship...
That was right... Caleb still hadn't asked her out yet. They had managed to become good friends, talking often and about pretty much everything except for his deep-seated feelings for her as he either waited on his orders or lingered for a few minutes after receiving them to continue their conversation.
Caleb considered Cat to be as delightful a person to be around as she was to ogle at. The two spent plenty of time talking about all sorts of different things, whether it be movies, family, awkward life experiences, corny jokes, Hell, even just the weather sometimes. It had even eventually come out that Caleb was a big fan of gaming and reading comic books and while Cat hardly had anything to say about those topics, she indulged Caleb in listening to him prattle on about the next big superhero movie or collector's edition of a game or comic he particularly enjoyed. The two could make a half hour fly by talking about practically anything, although Cat clearly had one topic that she favored over any other.
And that topic, of course, was food.
A true baker born and bred, Cat was not only a connoisseur in the kitchen, but a bit of an experimenter as well. Wednesdays and Saturdays, Caleb learned, were Cat's solo days at Cutie Pie's; any other day of the week she was either off for the day or working alongside her aunts, mother or one of her cousins. As Saturday was normally the busier day of the week, Cat loved to use her Wednesdays to try out new recipes and confectionary concoctions, always making as much as she pleased so that she'd have plenty to sample. Once Caleb had cemented himself as a Wednesday regular, he'd become her de facto taste tester, the bubbly and bodacious blonde always eager for a second opinion.
It could be raspberry snickerdoodles and chocolate cheese danishes one week, honey-glazed doughnut holes the next, strawberry creme-filled bear claws the week after that... Cat always had some new idea brewing for her and Caleb to munch on while they chewed the fat, both literally and figuratively, and Caleb found her culinary creations impossible to turn down.
For one, everything that Cat brewed up was absolutely delicious. Not only did it smell amazing, the taste was so out of this world he often wondered why Cat didn't roll these items out onto the shelves herself. Even the more unorthodox items, like her jalapeño cinnamon buns, had such a precious, perfect balance of flavors that Caleb had a hard time putting them down once he'd taken his first bite.
But on top of that, well, how could Caleb say no to his crush? Caleb had tried at least a handful of times to politely turn Cat down, to excuse himself from having to pick up another caramel cruller or slice of white chocolate cake, but his willpower was only so strong, and Cat had ways of being... persuasive. She'd pout her full lips and cock her head to the side in mock disappointment, cooing softly about how it was "just one bite" or how she loved hearing his super-important feedback, or how she just knew he was going to fall in love with this next treat.
And what was Caleb supposed to do? Number one, it was all free of charge... number two it all tasted spectacular... and, most importantly, number three, Caleb could see how happy it made her when he finally caved in.
Take that particular Wednesday, for example...

"Hey, Cat! Happy to see you," Caleb cheerily responded, trying not to come off as too excited and play things casual. This girl was his friend now, sure, but he was still worried about accidentally creeping her out.
"And you," Cat replied, leaning heavily against the glass display counter. "I've got your usual order all set and ready to go, Hun!"
Caleb strode up to the counter both to talk to his sweetheart and to pay for his "usual"... half a dozen peanut butter cookies, two chocolate eclairs and two red velvet cupcakes.
That was another thing... Caleb wasn't sure when it had happened, likely gradually over the past three months, but the size of his orders had started to increase as well. Cat loved encouraging Caleb to eat almost as much as she loved eating herself, it seemed, and it hadn't taken much for her to sensually steer Caleb toward adding an extra cookie here and there, an extra marshmallow square for the road, before Caleb's initial order had more than doubled.
"Sounds good," he said, licking his lips.
"And even better,' Cat continued, sliding over a pan of something gooey and chocolatey, "I have these new crispy cookie brownies that I think you're goin' to love. I know I did." Indeed, about a quarter of the pan's content had already disappeared, meaning that Cat had been busy sampling her own work as usual.
Caleb was a bit hesitant, however. Sure, he'd been a big guy for a while now and didn't particularly mind, but as of recent his favorite World of Warcraft t-shirt had stopped fitting properly and he was starting to notice that his jeans didn't button anymore either. Granted, Caleb loved coming into Cutie Pie's and knew that he would continue to do so, but if he didn't start cutting back a little bit, he was going to need to make some serious upgrades to his wardrobe pretty soon.
"Oh, I uh," Caleb smiled nervously, "I think I'm going to have to pass on those today. But they look great, though!"
Cat frowned, pouting her lips as she twirled her golden tresses with an idle finger.
"Awww," she whimpered softly, "but I worked so hard on them. Are you sure ya don't wanna try just a little?"
Caleb would have been fine with just a taste or two, but he knew better. Just one bite would quickly turn into two, then three, and before long, that "just a little" would turn into "a whole damn lot". That was how Cat operated. She would tempt him with a tiny sample first, innocently offering maybe just a cookie or two, before, seeing how much Caleb enjoyed them, she offered him another two. Then maybe a tall glass of whole milk as a palate cleanser before handing him a couple more. Then maybe just a few for the road.
Of course, all of this coy coercion and the extra eating that resulted meant that Caleb had kissed his 240 pound days goodbye. He'd already been a pretty chubby guy, his weight slowly climbing upward as a result of a mostly inactive lifestyle full of pre-prepared meals and fast food, but the thousands of extra calories that Caleb had been bombarding himself with once a week every week for the past three months had added up in a noticeable way. As the size of his orders at Cutie Pie's increased, he increased as well, and with his new size he found himself eating even larger meals or snacking even more often during game nights in order to reach the same level of satiation he'd grown accustomed to in the past. It was a vicious cycle that led to a plumper Caleb each passing month, to the point where he must have put on close to fifty pounds easily in an astonishingly short amount of time.
But what about this week? Was today going to be the day Caleb finally stood up to temptation and turned his curvy cutie down? Well, the truth was...
