Oh it's tempting, and getting back at Robert would be well worth... well, most of the possible problems. But... This is a priceless opportunity and you don't want to waste it. You can now BE other people. According to the book you could be completely new people too, merging two images into an unrecognizable face. Is it worth getting discovered just to play a prank on Robert? Hmmm.... You're thinking about it.
With a sigh you sit back on your bed and reconcile yourself that you have much more important things you could do to with such power. Earth shattering things like... see what it was like to be a girl. Or...
"Oh my god." you mutter "The Molester. I could... what? Imitate him? Or maybe frame him. Or... get the body of someone stronger than him and see how HE likes it!"
A grin spreads slowly over your face as you lean back on the bed, but it's short lived. The materials you've gathered will probably make one more mask with a little left over (plus the week and more of effort needed to buff it!) but after that you'll have expended your money supply. How on earth can you get enough to make more masks? You'll certainly want a few of them, just what you've thought of so far would need two or three more masks, and you've barely begun to scrape the surface of the possibilities. You're definitely going to need more cash to make use of this.
You reach up and press your hand to your face in the way the book described, say the nonsense phrase three times and tear the mask from your face. Fainting dead away you come to a few moments later. Oh you have got to get more used to this! Falling asleep every time you put on or take off a Mask is going to be annoying. As far as getting money for more Masks?
Options... You could, of course, take a part time job?... Naaaah! Not your style. But what about the masks themselves? Could you make a mask, put a merged image of two people in (so it couldn't be traced to a specific person) and sell it? Could be dangerous. What if someone knows about the masks, about the book, and is looking for signs of them? Heck maybe the government is after this thing if it knows about it. You're sure the CIA would kill for a tool like this!
Well, maybe you have been watching too much spy thrillers recently, but still it might be risky. But, what if you made a merged mask, used it, then sold another merged mask. They wouldn't be able to trace you as they wouldn't know your face, fingerprints etc. Nothing should lead back to you!
Of course there is a problem with that. It'll need two more masks, one to use and one to sell. You'll need probably another $200 to do that, maybe a bit less depending on how much materials you've got left after making one more mask. You can't use your current mask of Robert. It might serve your horrible brother right, but he IS your brother. Either using his face to sell a mask and thus leading them back to him, or selling his mask and not knowing what the guy who is buying it would effectively be framing Robert for are things you just aren't willing to do. Besides, either could lead people back to you.
You turn the glossy mask over in your hands, peering at the odd 3D image of Robert shining in the surface. It is intoxicating knowing you can BE someone else, feel just like him, his energy his...
Suddenly you sit bolt upright as a thought occurs to you. You had his energy, his body, you were perfectly him. You'd been feeling a little off lately what with spending so much time on polishing, but with that mask on you had your brothers boundless energy. What if it could do more? What if it could GIVE more?
Slowly you get off the bed and go back to the window, this time looking over to your neighbor's house. Andrew would pay through the nose for something like this! He could WALK again!   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
