Determination

    by: Kilbil Author IconMail Icon
Long ago, there once lived two races: monsters and humans. Though they lived in peace before, a war still broke out between monsters and humans - a war that ended with the monsters sealed deep underground under Mount Ebbot. Today, with monsters and magic having long faded from living human memory, legends said that those who climb Mount Ebbot never return. This was something that most took to heart, as occasionally, deep rumblings within the mountain occurred, shaking the very earth and scaring most from even daring to climb in the first place.

Despite this, a young human child has still fallen down into the Underground, sealing his fate. Why he chose to climb the mountain to begin with was a secret that they alone knew. What was known was that the first time the child awoke in a bed of golden flowers feeling none the worse for wear, he did not expect to wake up again.

The child, who would come to be known as Frisk, felt a chill go down his spine as he saw the small hole up in the sky providing the little bit of light that could reach down here. However, once he felt the golden flowers below him, a strange sort of ease began to rest. Resting among the golden flowers gave Frisk the DETERMINATION to rise up and observe his surroundings.

Immediately, he noticed a corridor in the distance, with an abrupt left turn ahead. Assured and ready to explore the underground for all it was worth, he pressed onwards.

Unknown to the child, in finding the determination to move onwards, he had grown just the slightest bit taller. Where once they barely came up to a third of the doorway, now they able to reach over halfway...
