…that very well might have been his worst fear of his life in his current situation of being caught in the middle of what he is doing right now, having his hand up between his shoulders while his head is in the end of his arm. Staring wide eyed like a deer caught in headlights at a little girl who for some reason or another snuck out of her house in the middle of the night. Which Darren definitely didn’t expect at all since it is so late and being a little girl is even more unexpected.
However, unlike Darren, the girl seems to have a look on her face that says the complete opposite of being totally freaked at the sight of grown man that some how has his head and hand swapped. Standing in front her neighbors garage peering in through the small window in the dead of night, looking totally ecstatic and amazed that she is seeing this right now. Probably from being so young and having creative imaginative mind as she mouths, “can I come in?”
Leaving Darren confused for a minute at why she’s not freaking out and what she just asked him, so she asks again, “can I come in.”
Even in his state of shock, he manages to read her lips and confuses him even more and responds with, “why?”
“Please.” She begs.
Again he just responds with, “why?”
“I’m bored.” She mouths to Darren where he stares at her for a moment wondering what to do in his current situation, think about, ‘I just can’t let her in, would I hurt her or would she hurts me with that blade, but then it could be fun to swap her around with the blade.’
“Please.” She begs again.
This time Darren shrugs his shoulder, “Hmmm…okay.” He answers which makes her jump with joy as he quickly swaps his head and hand back before walking over to the door beside the garage door, unlocking and greeting the girl, “hi mister, how did you do that?” She asks.
“Hi little girl, but what are you doing out so late, I’m sure your parents are worried sick and looking for you right now.” Darren tells her completely ignoring her question which brings a look of sadness across her cute face as she looks up at Darren, “no, I’m an orphan, my parents are dead.” She answers making Darren feel sad himself.
“Ohh…I’m sorry to hear that.” He says and kneels down to hug her who hugs her back, “its okay, they weren’t the best parents anyways, they always let me with friends while they w eat and did drugs or something.” She explains.
Which makes Darren feel even worse for the young girl, “I’m so sorry, do you need a place to stay?” Darren asks.
She looks at him with the purest look of joy he has ever seen on someone’s face before, almost enough to make him cry, “re..rea..really?” She asks
“Of course.” Darren answers as he rubs her back, “OHMYGOD!!!” She screams, jumping with joy and hugging Darren tighter than before.
Not wanting to causes a commotion and for the his neighbors to see this, he picks her up and brings her inside his garage, closing and locking the door where she continues to hug him tighter and tighter until actually starts to hurt, “to tight.” Darren tells her as he taps on her back.
Which at first she doesn’t stop, but realizes what he just said, “sorry mister, I’m just so HAPPY!” She screams again which he quickly covers her mouth, “don’t scream, my wife is sleeping.” He tells her.
Even though her mouth his covered by his hand she still replies, “sorry mister.”
From there she calms down and stands there before Darren, looking up at him for a moment before looking over at the weird blade thing leaning against the wall, “what is that?” She asks.
“Ummm…it’s a magical blade.” He tells her.
“So is that how you did that to your head?” She asks as she runs up to it almost grabbing it before Darren speaks up, “don’t touch it.” He warns her as he walks up to it, grabbing it before she does, “sorry.” She apologizes again.
“Please don’t touch this, I don’t want you to get hurt.” He explains to her.
“But it didn’t hurt you.” She points out as she saw you with your head and hand swapped and swapped back.
“I know, I’m just being extremely cautious.” Darren tells her as he holds on to the scythe.
“I understand, but can we use it?” She asks.
“Ummm…just don’t make a lot of noise okay ahh…what’s your name by the way?” Darren asks.
“Silly me, I didn’t tell you my name, it’s Catherine, but I like being called Katie with K.” She answers.
“Okay Katie, my name is Darren and my wife’s name is Carmen.” Darren tells her.
“Now can we play with that.” She replies as she points to the scythe.
“Yes we can Katie, but don’t scream.” Darren tells her.
“I promise, my lips are sealed.” She answers as she does the motion across her mouth like she’s zipping her lips shut making Darren chuckle at how she’s like a tiny adult already.
“Okay, so do you have anything in mind?” Darren asks her.
“Hmmm.” She says as she puts a finger on her lips as she thinks deeply for a minute until she says, “hmmm…maybe we should start small, cutting my head off might make scream.”
“Good thinking Katie, but how small should we start?” Darren asks her.
“Ummm….” She says as she looks down at her body, looking at her hands, her feet, her arms and legs for a few minutes wondering what she wants to have cut off until she looks up at Darren, “my….
