You tried to strike out on your own. But you failed.

Turns out the the Kingdom is deadly serious about a Shadowfoot striking out on their own becoming an Enemy of the King.

But your death was not in vain. Seeing your head on a pike outside the Academy walls is serving as a great deterrent for other Shadowfoots (Shadowfeet?) who are considering striking out on their own.
