Chapter #5
the lost kingdom of Sprites
by: Unknown
There is a small museum at the Heroes' Academy, consisting of treasures donated by former students. Attached to each treasure is a description of the treasure in question, and how the former student acquired it.
The museum is mostly visited by first year students still overwhelmed by their new station in life, and thieves who forget that the museum is guarded by spells crafted by the archmages who teach at the academy.
You were one of the few students at the Academy who returned to the museum after their first year.
What drew you back was the Jewel of Qism.
The beauty of the emerald left you unmoved, and you could care less about the perils faced by the rogue who retrieved it. It is the history of the jewel itself that intrigues you.
It was one of the last jewels shaped by the Sprites, centuries ago, before they migrated from the Kingdoms of Man and seemingly disappeared of the face of the planet.
The sprites were considered to be master gemologists and lapidarists, second to none. No one could bring the beauty out of a gem like a sprite could, and all the legendary enchanted gems were created by sprites.
Histories and legends disagree on why the sprites decided to leave the known world en masse, but leave they did, and no one has ever been able to find the fabled Lost Kingdom of Sprites ever since.
There's no reason to expect that a young brawler, only recently graduated from the Heroes' Academy, should succeed where centuries of research by scholars and mages have failed. But you need a quest. And who knows what you'll find along the way,
