The moon shown brightly over the skies of Japan, it's white light a contrast against the starry night sky. Down below the city was abuzz with song and dance. Rather than standard streetlights, torches had been lit and everyone dressed ceremoniously in their finest robes and kimonos.
Tonight was a night of celebration. Tonight was the Maysakuri Festival. It was a tradition that was started way back when when Emperor Matoks first born came into the world. On this special day once every year, everyone would host a festival in his daughter's honor and dress their best. It was a time of smiles, games, food, and worship. There was even a play that detailed the legend of Sayuki... the imortal empress of Japan.
Currently every man, woman, and child was dressed in their finest garb and headed towards Sayuki mountain. It was the largest mountain in all of Japan and currently the residence of the empress. The event was also being televised for those who couldn't make it.
Atop the tallest mountain sat a golden castle, larger than any structure that came before it. It was Maysakuri home and over the years it had been redone and expanded multiple times. It was a beautiful home and stood so high in the sky it reminded most of a Disney castle at times.
Inside though, the girl of honor looked out her window at the bright lights headed her way. Her little worshipers were coming to greet her like they did every year. She had the world record for the most festival attendances since she never missed one. Honestly without her it would feel like the end of an era.
"I guess I should get ready, my guests will be here soon."
