After a couple minutes the doctor arrived. He was an older man wearing your typical white lab coat.
“Hi there Andy, my name is Dr. Rodgers.” He said shaking your hand.
“I wish I could I was happy to be here doctor.” You replied with a fake smile.
“I hear that more than you know. I’m sorry about your circumstances. I truly am. It is incredibly rare for someone so close to their 21st to be drafted like this.” The doctor said.
“So I’ve heard…” You said slightly sarcastically.
“Now…normally the way this works, is we sedate you, administrator the nano serum which changes the body over a couple hours in your sleep and you wake up in a new body no problem.” He began to say.
You began to sense that wasn’t going to be so simple for you.
“However…do to your age. The regular formula will not be enough. It may not even change your fully and the last thing we want is an incomplete transformation.” The doctor said.
“So…what are you saying?” You asked.
“Well…unfortunately in your circumstances, we will be unable to sedate you. We will have to administer a much more powerful form of the serum. One strong enough to power through your bodies defenses and force the changes.” The doctor said.
“What…what does that mean?” You asked nervously.
“Well…it means your transformation won’t be quite so easy I’m afraid. The upside is it won’t take nearly as long but you will be alert and awake for everything.” He said.
“Is it painful?” You asked.
“You will experience some discomfort yes. How much I can’t say.” The doctor said.
“Do I have any other choices? Is there no sedative available?” You asked.
“Unfortunately any sedation will reduce the effectiveness of the serum, so no.” The doctor said.
“So..what happens now?” You asked nervously.
“Well I have the serum ready. We will do a quick injection. From there the nurse and I will leave the room so you can at least have some privacy. The changes should only take a couple minutes to begin. The whole process should only take a few minutes with a dosage this powerful. If you are in need of any assistance there is a red emergency button on the wall behind you. You can hit that and our staff will arrive to assist you.” The doctor said.
“I guess I don’t really have a choice.” You replied.
