"...And keep your activity booklets tight to your sides, young ladies. I don't want anyone to come back moaning to me at the end of the week about not knowing what assignments you're supposed to do! Remember, the spoken exam after this field trip is worth 35% of your termly grade! I may not be your actual teacher but I will make sure Mr Takanada dishes out punishments for insufficient work!"
The whole populace of girls groaned in shared unison. Mrs Tagakaki place her fists squarely on her wide hips. There was a forced look of stoicism on her face which didn't really work considering her usually upbeat smile. The females all grumbled as they divided themselves into small groups and negotiated sleeping arrangements. She was very much into the mindset of a substitute teacher, in that limbo where they're not exactly sure whether to lean into the 'friendly teacher' angle or to try and assert authoritarian dominance. She smiled to herself, thinking she'd done a good job of marking lines in the sand, and stood back, admiring the girls all laughing and chatting together.
Two girls purposefully separated themselves from the nattering and stood to the side. Mai crossed her arms over her bust, a stubborn frown locked into place on her face. "It's just not up for discussion," she grumbled.
Eiko momentarily took her hands out from her deep jacket pockets to make wild gestures with her hands as she replied, "What's the big deal?! Over 60% of the enjoyment that comes from international school trips come from the salacious dorm gossip! To think that yiu want absolutely no part in it is, like, so f*cking absurd!""
"And where did you get this statistic then, Eiko? Teen Vogue?"
Eiko stuck her tongue out and Mai laughed. "All I'm saying is that when Shiraki Sachi asks you personally to stay in her room with all the other popular girls, you don't say no." Mai rolled her eyes. Sachi was your run-of-the-mill queen b*tch, too obsessed with beauty and good looks to get anything above a D grade in any of her classes. Still, the weird and inexplicable laws of school popularity dictated that this ditzy bimbo with her dyed blonde hair, massive E-cup knockers and slim body honed by years of volleyball practice was coveted by all the boys with a steady pulse in their class. Mai wouldn't have admitted it but she was a tad jealous she didn't receive any of this attention herself. Smarts weren't respected as much as they used to be.
"It's all a popularity contest, y'know. She's not inviting you to bunk with her because she's suddenly fallen head over heels for you. She's a b*tch with Daddy issues and an unhealthy addiction to putting down weaker, more vulnerable girls with lower social ranking than her."
Eiko chuckled and rolled her eyes. "Jesus, I didn't ask for a bloody philosophical essay, Freud."
The two's talk was halted as they heard the subtle pitter-patter of footsteps coming towards them. They hastily stuffed their hands behind their backs as three feminine figures came into view. The leader of the pack walked dead-centre, hardly any emotion visible on her cold but attractive features. She had an intimidating aura about her, wearing an ironed grey jumper with a cute bow done about her lapels, whilst wearing a demure blue and white chequered skirt with white ankle socks and peach coloured heels (which bumped her to a still quite short 5'4"). She didn't have much in the way of a body but two decent sized knockers distended the front of her jumper, captivating young Eiko's attention instantly.

She waited, hands on her hips and unmoving, for the two girls to address her. "Hello, Akemi-san," they said in unison as they respectfully bowed their heads. A tense silence followed afterwards. Mai could feel herself beginning to sweat underneath her blue jumper.
"You two," Akemi said, her mellifluous voice devoid of any emotion. "You're bunking with me, Suki and Hina." The duo in the back waved sheepishly as their names were called. Meanwhile the two socially awkward girl's bugged out. Them?! Of all people?! Akemi Tomokazu was not one normally known to invite anyone into her immediate vicinity, let alone the stumpy little girl and her weasel-like friend. She'd been class president for three years running now, an admirable feat considering she was due to graduate a year prior. Mai and Eiko were sure that the school were just too intimidated to tell her to leave. As such she carried an air of importance about her that she made sure to expose to as many people as possible.
"M-may I ask why?" Mai squeaked. Eiko jabbed her with an elbow, to which Mai squeled like a pig. "Apologies for my friend, she's a bit socially inept in these situations," Eiko giggled, brushing a lock of curly black hair behind her ear. "We'd love to bunk with you three, it'd be an awesome experience!"
Akemi didn't even seem to acknowledge Eiko's presence. "You're top your class, projected valedictorian, aren't you Tagakaki?" she said directly to Mai. Mai nodded meekly. A hint of a smile played at the corner of Akemi's mouth. "As class president, it's my solemn duty to see if you're worthy of your status." She finally looked towards Eiko. "I assume you're part of the package as well."
Eiko hastily grabbed Mai by the crook of her arm, smushing her face against her friend's and exclaimed, "Yup! We're inseparable! Tighter than two peas in a claustrophobic pod!"
Akemi scowled disapprovingly and Eiko's heart sunk into her chest. "Whatever," she muttered as she pirouetted and turned to walk back the way she came from. Hina and Suki waved one final time before hastily following their queen bee. Once they were outside earshot Eiko screeched girlishly and began hopping up and down.
"Calm down, Eiko," Mai laughed as Eiko put her hand in her own and began twirling them around in a skipping circle.
"But how can I calm down! The Akemi Tomokazu invited us to share a room with her and her bodacious looking girl friends! Oh my days, I'm feeling lightheaded just thinking about it! If I'm getting this flustered now I can't imagine what it'll be like watching them all get out of the shower..."
Mai laughed as she picked up her suitcase. "I worry for you sometimes, Eiko."
Eiko rolled her eyes and looped both their arms together. "Aw, you love me really." The girls giggled between themselves as they followed the general direction that Akemi had gone in. Today had gotten a lot better for the both of them. If only they could've known that tucked into a little corner of the hallway they walked down, hidden inside a sliver of darkness and shadow, was a very tiny spherical security camera, the light of which was shining a maleficent red. They were being watched, intently, and they had no idea that the watcher was biding their time, waiting and watching, just until the time was right.
