Mick was feeling a bit excited. For a while now, he had been quite intrigued by tabletop RPGs and he had been itching to give one a try for himself. He had been wanting to put a Dungeons & Dragons group together, but he had been unsuccessful in his efforts. At least until now.
A few months ago, Mick had made a new friend named Brett. He was a few years older and working in Mick's field and had similar interests. As he got to know his new friend more, Mick learned that Brett was into tabletop games as well and was actually an experienced DM. Upon learning Mick was eager to play, Brett agreed to run a game for him if he could put a group together. After talking to some friends, Mick had finally managed to do so and today was the day they were supposed to start.
Starting his day by putting on a fresh white t-shirt, black skinny jeans, and his usual black sneakers, Mick spent the rest of the time waiting reviewing his D&D books out of anticipation.
Knock
Hearing a knock on the door, Mick opened up to see his friend Brett. He had on a black t-shirt, loose dark blue jeans, and grey sneakers, and he had a bag slung over his shoulder. "Hey, man," Brett greeted him.
"Hey," Mick replied as he showed Brett in. "Glad you could make it."
"Sure. You sound excited," Brett nodded.
"I am."
"It will be a good time," Brett said, patting his bag before continuing. "Got everything we need."
"Great. You can set up at the table."
Brett nodded and headed over to the table to begin unpacking. Mick watched him take out a bunch of dice, a DM screen, some battle mats, some miniatures, some rule books and papers, and some other books that looked kind of old and worn.
"Wow, that's a lot of stuff," Mick commented.
Brett smirked back at him. "You can never be too prepared."
"Fair, but I am curious about some of these," Mick said, eyeing some of the old looking books.
"Just some old notebooks with some old campaign ideas, and some old lore books," Brett explained.
"I see. Sounds interesting."
"So when's everyone else showing up?"
"Soon, I think."
"Nice. I'll finish setting up then."
As he waited for the rest of the group to show, Mick continued to watch Brett set up, intrigued by how it all worked. He was excited for what was sure to be a fun afternoon. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
