Chapter by Acorns551
After a minute of flying through the air, you finally reach your destination. Home. It was an average middle-class family home in suburbia. One story, windows littered the outside allowing the natural light to filter through the house, a wrap-around porch that reached from the front door all the way around to the sides of the house, decorated with rocking chairs and wind chimes that blew in the late summer wind.
"Home sweet home." You said as you materialized back into your physical form. Luckily you still had your clothes and backpack on. You looked at the time on your watch and sighed. It was 6:30 pm, and everybody would be home; you could already see the silhouette of your mother working in the kitchen, probably making dinner since your family always ate around 7:00 pm.
You opened the front door to enter the living room, Juniper layout on the L-shaped couch on her phone. You forgot that she was back from college, she looked up from the book that she was reading and gave you a curt nod.
"Hey, how was school?" She asked absentmindedly, you gave her a nod back and an equally disinterested response in return, "Alright I guess." You continued your path to your room, pulling the backpack off your shoulders.
You entered your room, tossed off your shoes, planted yourself in your desk chair, and gazed at the strange ring on your finger. Intrinsically, you knew that you had a wide assortment of abilities to choose from but merge caught your attention. You grabbed a piece of blank notebook paper and began to scribble names down on the lines. The list held people from people you knew from school, your family, celebrities, fictional characters, and of course yourself.
"Non-existent people are probably not affected since they don't technically exist, I'll hold off on that for now. Who would be a good mash-up?" You said out loud, you rubbed your head in concentration, and weighed a few options that sounded great.
'Mashup #1', You scribbled on the flip side of the paper, 'Juniper and Ashely'. This was probably the safest option out of all of them. The resulting fusion would be somewhat bland since the two looked similar with some minor differences such as the face, breast size, and height. But it would be a good beginner fusion to work with.
'Mashup #2', sister(s) and Mom'. This was also a great beginner since the three of them share a close bond relationship-wise and genetically; like mashup 1 it would be a pretty predictable outcome but it would be interesting how the ring would correct reality to explain why you shared only 50% of your DNA with your sister or 100% DNA with your mother.
'Mashup #3', You and Henry. This was a no-brainer, your best friend combined with you would be an unstoppable badass. You nodded in agreement to your thoughts as you imagined your fused self as a hulking man (despite you and henry being relatively little in muscle mass).
You jotted a couple more mash-ups down on the scrap of paper. They all seemed equally exciting to pursue, especially the ones that it included yourself, you wondered how your personality would change being merged with someone else or if the merged person would have any recollection of the events that you are going through right now. After some time you came to the conclusion that you would do...
